2 INTRODUCTIONS Name, Title, Organization Where would you classify your team on a scale of 1 to 10? 10 = We live our values everyday 9 = We live our core value most days 8 = We live our core values sometimes 7 = We need to work on living our core values more consistently 6 = We live our core values sporadically 5 = Meh! 4 = Our team for sure needs to review our core values 3 =??? 2 = We have core values? 1 = What are core values?

5 Workshop Goals To gain a better understanding of the importance of living your respective organizational core values daily. To think about how your organization can utilize the core values to guide internal workplace communication and collaboration between staff and volunteers. Leave with a variety of ideas on how to implement living organizational values daily with colleagues and volunteers.

7 Core Values Support the vision, shape the culture and reflect the company values. Are the essence of a company s identity, principles, beliefs and philosophy.

8 What are the advantages for an organization to have a list of core values? Help organizations make decisions. Educate employees, volunteers, clients about what the company is about and clarify the identity of the organization. Can be a primary recruiting and retention tool.

9 Vision-Values Small Group Activity ROAD TRIP

10 ROAD TRIP! You are each part of a team of drivers from your respective organizations. Your team is about to make a trip from Toronto, ON to Moncton, NB (1500 kms 15 hours) during which you must live the core values and work toward achieving the vision of your organization during your road trip. DIRECTIONS With your small group, develop two practices, processes, actions or behaviors for each value that could apply to the team or organization to help achieve the vision and live the values. Choose one person to record examples on paper provided. Choose one person to report examples and rationale to the larger group. Feel free to design a logo for your company as well. REMINDER Vision and Values are more than just words. They can be practical, tangible tools you can use to lead your group or organization in achieving quality results.
