The Role This role is a critical one in terms of ensuring our future success. Leading on recruitment and related marketing in the UK you will be responsible for all activity that will support recruitment success from strategic brand development, customer acquisition, experience and conversion. You will also be a key influencer and leader in the broader Marketing group and play a significant role in shaping and implementing the broader reputation, recruitment and retention strategy of the university. The Marketing Group Our Marketing team is sector leading and award winning and we are well placed within the institution to co-shape the future size and shape of the institution. Collaborative and results orientated, we work closely with academic and professional service colleagues to achieve our shared goals. The remit of the group encompasses UK, EU and International Recruitment, Education Liaison and Outreach, Brand strategy, External Relations, Staff Communications, Alumni and Supporter Relations, Digital, Programmes and Insight and Student Engagement. The role Working directly to the Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director of Marketing, you will lead a team of specialists encompassing brand development, education liaison and outreach, recruitment and campaigns marketing, customer experience and admissions communications that will develop effective strategy and plans to attract the right students from the UK and EU. Responsible for the whole UK recruitment cycle from awareness raising to enrollment you will lead a diverse team to ensure delivery of integrated marketing campaigns that raise our profile and reputation with prospects and their direct influencers. With a strong track record in effective brand development and integrated campaign delivery you will also lead on the development and delivery of campaigns, events and communications that maximize conversion. You will need passion, creativity and the ability to network and influence across senior staff in the university to ensure you deliver a focused and effective programme of activity to drive recruitment. You will also need a strong sales focus to ensure recruitment activities are delivering impact in terms of recruitment growth. Principal duties: Recruitment targets and entry requirements: Work closely with Deans, the Head of Admissions Operations and the Head of Programmes and Insight to agree tariff entry points and related entry requirements Work with Faculties and Programmes team to set targets at cohort and programme level Development and implementation of an integrated UK recruitment marketing strategy and plans to include: Brand positioning and value propositions for key recruitment markets Campaign development and implementation for UG, PG, Part-time and specialist pathways Development and targeting of relevant marketing recruitment info to prospects to further strengthen the Middlesex brand and drive recruitment Lead on development of strategy and plans to increase reputation and recruitment through key influencers in target schools and colleges. Raise our profile amongst prospects via a targeted programme of communications and associated events in schools and on campus that highlight our core strengths and positioning Communications that demonstrate thought leadership in the sector

3 Alignment of our goals to those of individual target schools and development mutually beneficial plans accordingly Development of bespoke tools and guidance to assist prospective students in existing and emergent pathways choices including apprenticeships Sector leader in wider careers and advisory networks Prospect relationship management and conversion Drive a customer first approach to enquirer and applicant management leading a Prospect Experience and Conversion team to deliver outstanding information and service to enquirers and applicants Implementation of a strategy in this area that utilizes latest CRM tools and techniques Lead on the strategy for all face-to-face and virtual events that target prospects in the recruitment cycle working closely with relevant leads in faculties/schools to deliver the optimal experience Lead on our enquiries management strategy and resource allocation model for UK based students and ensure effective alignment with the international prospect journey with the Head of International Marketing and Recruitment Lead on the strategy and implementation of all conversion activity for offer holders Marketing lead on annual clearing operation Brand strategy Work directly with the PVC, Director of Marketing, Chief Commercial Officer and the Head of External Relations to develop an effective brand for the university, engaging staff and stakeholders accordingly Manage the Design function within the team to develop and maintain a strong visual identity, providing line management and guidance to the Design Manager to implement where necessary with wider stakeholders People management Direct line management of 4 Heads/Marketing Managers plus a wider team of 30+ staff Outstanding people management skills in particular the ability to shape strategy and empower others to deliver in your own team but also through matrix inform and shape the focus and activities of others Key contributor in terms of overall staff development strategy of the wider marketing group Budget responsibilities Effective development and utilization of a significant recruitment marketing budget aligned to strategy development and annual planning Regular reporting on and monitoring of allocated marketing spend where required Reporting and measurement

4 Lead in the development of a reporting/meetings framework that drives delivery and tracking of results and keeps all key stakeholders informed in terms of campaign performance and lead acquisition through to each stage of the recruitment cycle Advise/recommend action to executive team to enhance recruitment Widening participation and pathways Develop and monitor effectiveness of strategies to meet WP targets as outlined in our annual OFFA agreement delegating responsibility to the Head of Education Liaison and Outreach to contribute to our OFFA agreement and returns accordingly Key owner of strategy and reporting in relation to access across the university Lead on developing strategies to develop new pathways into and through the university for UK based students Hours: As a professional contract, there are no set hours stipulated. The postholder will be expected to work flexibly and for such reasonable hours as are necessary in order to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of the post. Annual Leave: 35 days per annum plus eight Bank Holidays and seven University days taken at Christmas.

5 PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential criteria: Extensive experience of marketing and sales in a commercial and/or Higher Education environment Significant evidence of effective development of marketing strategy and plans across a diverse and complex operation Evidence of significant experience in effective campaign development and implementation, including drawing in research and insight, brief writing, agency management and tracking and reporting Extensive leadership and people management skills and experience ideally across a large team Passion for Customer Relationship management in a commercial and/or Higher Education context including extensive knowledge of latest systems, tools and techniques Strong understanding and experience in brand development and implementation Experience working in sales and/or marketing in a global organization Experience in producing recommendation and reports for senior stakeholders Evidenced experience in product marketing Evidence of delivery in social media community management/digital campaign delivery Desirable: Knowledge of HE environment, including admissions policies and procedures Experience of target setting and reporting Hours: 35.5 hours per week, actual daily hours by arrangement Flexibility: Please note that given the need for flexibility in order to meet the changing requirements of the University, the duties and location of this post and the role of the postholder may be changed after consultation. The balance of duties may vary over time and will be reviewed as part of the appraisal process.
