1 NRSW Community Support Programs JOB ANNOUNCEMENT AMENDED 15 APRIL 2016 Announcement #: NAF Opening Date: 15 APRIL 2016 Job Title: CY PROGRAM ASSISTANT Series/Grade: CY Category: REGULAR FULL TIME WITH BENEFITS Closing Date: UNTIL FILLED First Cut Off Date: 22 APRIL 2016 Salary Range: $14.64, $16.43 PER HOUR Location: CDC, LA MESA VILLAGE HOUSING AREA, MONTEREY Consideration: ALL SOURCES **This position is not eligible for relocation expenses** BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Assists in providing safe environments and activities to children ages six weeks to 5 years in a CDC classroom setting using prepared curriculum and program materials. Incorporates special instructions provided by parents such as dietary needs, physical needs, or other information that may affect the child or youth s experience in the program. Promotes and models safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices. Helps arrange for and/or serves appropriate snacks or meals where applicable. Successful completion of Department of Defense (DOD) and Department of Navy (DON) standardized training is a condition of employment (to include Child Development training modules). Work is reviewed in detail, while in progress and upon completion, to assure trainee s progress and to evaluate attainment of training objectives and readiness for further training. Training will be of a progressively more responsible and specialized nature associated with the child care and development operations. Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. These duties are performed to increase knowledge of child care duties and responsibilities and to develop skills for advancing to the higher-level positions. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent required and 18 months prior work experience working with young children required. Must have completed the Navy Standardized Training modules or possess a CDA, MSA, or relevant degree. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to attend and participate in prescribed training programs to include CPR and First Aid within 30 days and Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting Course within 60 days of employment. Must satisfactorily complete background checks including the National Agency Check (NACI). A pre-employment physical is a requirement of this position.
