3 Background: 2016 Inclusion Grant received from Community Living Initiative. Problem: Lack of transportation a major barrier to access basic life needs. Solution: Partnership network developed to view transportation through an inclusive process for planning and decision making. Formation of 3P Ride Initiative: More People. More Places. More Possibilities. Early success Integrated inclusion of seniors and persons with disabilities into the planning of transportation services. Developed strong community partnerships with community decision makers Identified funding for transportation to same-day medical appointments Created a transportation program for veterans. Starting to recruit volunteers to serve as travel trainers for new riders. Transformation: Transition to 501(c)3 non-profit organization

4 3P Ride is a nonprofit organization advancing affordable and convenient mobility solutions that allow all Central Pennsylvania s residents to connect to their most basic needs. Mission Statement 4

5 Recognition that mobility and access are vital for the entire population. Focus on removing barriers to health services, employment, and other engagement in the community. Achieving the vision and accomplishing priority goals requires: Extensive partnerships Wide range of funding sources Broad base of volunteers Building a Better Model

10 NCMM Regional Meeting Purpose: Regional Transportation meeting to address access to employment and training opportunities Six-county area in Central Pennsylvania (Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Union, Snyder, and Dauphin Counties) Bring together human service organizations, employers, and other related stakeholders to address employment access Someone who either works directly with job seekers or is very familiar with the transportation, child care, and other struggles job seekers sometimes face in connecting to interviews, jobs, internships, and/or training. Goals: Identify partners to create a network to improve mobility services for access to employment Develop a shared understanding of existing transportation-related obstacles Review current community transportation options and how they can be part of the answer Develop the vision and parameters of needed solutions, and create a plan of how to achieve that vision Establish a plan for ongoing dialogue and continued work The Meeting: Perspectives Panel Creating Challenge Statements Brainstorm Solutions Fleshing out concepts 10

How might we address affordability of transportation options? How might we systemize access to transportation solutions involving multiple modes? How might we allay attitudinal barriers to using shared ride options? How might we create a transportation solution that is effective in low density geography? How might we redefine funding eligible ridership to meet needs? How might we connect employee to child care opportunities? How might we provide individualized support around transportation to individuals?

RideMatch.com (16 Votes) a) Similar to Facebook, this site would provide online presence for employees to share where they live, the shift they work, and how many people to which they can give rides. 2. Find My Ride Enhanced (15 Votes) a) Establish a task force to evaluate available transportation options and identify gaps b) Collaborate to establish new resources to fill gaps c) Create an app to link resources to those who need them 3. Collaborative Transportation System (12 Votes) a) 3 pronged model- 1 st supports First Mile through community initiatives and resources 2 nd supports a volume based public or private hub 3 rd supports Last Mile through ridesharing

13 Proposed Solutions 4. Affordable Transportation for All (6 Votes) a) Expand funding through donations, grants, local buy-in b) Expand modes via a new County agency 5. Childcare Awareness to Employers and Employees (6 Votes) a) Work with Chamber of Commerce to raise awareness of the importance of childcare and the value to employers to provide resources. 6. Transportation Awareness Program (5 Votes) a) Create an informed multimodal transportation community 7. Service Navigation (3 Votes) a) Create an employee benefit that is fund designated to human service agencies to assist with the cliff effect
