1 Position Title: Family Violence (up to 0.5 EFT) Reports To: Coordinator Counselling Services Division: Community Services Direct Reports: Discipline specific student placement supervision if required Primary Objective: The Family Violence Clinician provides a diverse range of counselling and support services for women from 16 years of age. The emphasis of the role is placed on providing therapeutic counselling, case management and group work for women in the area of family violence and/or other aspects of women s well-being. The Family Violence Clinician recognises the diversity of women s lives and values diversity. PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND APPLICATION Appropriate qualifications, experience, demonstrated knowledge and application of the skills required for the position. DIRECT SERVICE DELIVERY: Undertake assessment of women s counselling referrals for women who have experienced family violence. Provide appropriate counselling and/or group work interventions for clients. Ensure that appropriate referrals and consultation with other services and extended family members are part of the assessment and systemic intervention strategies. Provide secondary consultation and community education as appropriate. Participate in the Family & Community Programs monthly duty work and intake roster. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT: Establish effective working relationships with other agencies including agencies providing services to women and families. Represent the program on relevant committees and networks in consultation with the supervisor. In conjunction with other team members undertake program promotion, presentations and other community education as appropriate. Contribute to the maintenance of program resources. Supervision/mentoring students on placements as appropriate Achieve program targets as per funding arrangements Attend team, staff and supervision meetings Supervision on a fortnightly basis with the Coordinator Counselling Services Undertake duty for Community Services as required Yearly Performance Appraisal Client / agency feedback KPI Compliance

3 2. COMMUNICATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience in liaising with a wide range of stakeholders. Develop close working relationships with internal and external contacts, including those that provide support to women and their families. Act in a professional manner at all times when dealing with internal and external contacts. Treat all stakeholders with respect and integrity. Attendance to monthly family and community services team meetings. Attendance at fortnightly Team Meetings Stakeholder feedback 3. ADMINISTRATION AND DOCUMENTATION Through the use of organisational procedures, ensure all administration and documentation requirements are initiated and completed in a professional and timely manner. Ensure accountability reports and collection of data is adequately maintained. Contribute to agency research and identification of new and emerging trends. Ensure all documentation is accurate and completed in a professional and timely manner. Maintain IRIS and PJB database and accurate recording of data Completion of case files Supervision on fortnightly basis as a minimum File audit/reviews on a yearly basis. 4. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT Commitment to ensuring quality services is delivered to stakeholders through continuous improvement activities. Performance of other duties as required provided such duties are within the range of the employee s skills, competency and training. Participate in and contribute to quality improvement programs and other facility activities to meet service/accreditation standards. Demonstrated use of CAH continuous quality improvement policy. Adherence to relevant service/accreditation standards.

4 5. PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT Demonstrated experience and understanding of the need for continuation of both personal and professional development. Participate in program, group and individual supervision sessions and professional development training as required. Actively participate in the CAH performance appraisal and development process. Prepare for and participate in team, staff and group meetings as required. Participate in discipline specific student placement program, including supervision / mentoring of students as required. Completion of Performance Development process as per policy of CAH. Maintenance of education/professional development recording data. Supervision and mentoring of students in the CAH student placement program. 6. INFECTION CONTROL. Ensure all practice is conducted in accordance with infection control policies, procedures and standards Adherence to infection control standards and legislative requirements at all times 7. Achieving program targets Person Specification: Qualifications, experience and personal attributes Related tertiary qualifications to the role, (i.e.: Social Work/Welfare/Psychology/Counselling). Previous counselling experience Registration with appropriate professional bodies Current drivers license Current Police and Working with Children check DESIRABLE: Familiarity and experience in delivering a range of counselling interventions. Experience and understanding of issues relating to family violence and working within equity and social justice framework. Experience in child centred and family focussed therapeutic approaches particularly with vulnerable women and children. Well-developed interpersonal skills including an ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to relate and communicate comfortably with people from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Willingness to participate in further training and professional development. Demonstrated communication (both written and verbal) skills and computer literacy
