3 THE ORGANIZATION BC SPCA The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ( BC SPCA ) is the only animal welfare organization in BC with the authority to enforce animal cruelty laws under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act ( PCA Act ). The BC SPCA is the largest animal welfare organization of its kind in North America and the largest animal sheltering society in the world, with a mission to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. The BC SPCA assists more than 47,776 animals in need every year and have 44 locations across the province, including: 36 branches which care for abused and homeless animals, three animal hospitals in Vancouver, Burnaby and Penticton, two spay/neuter clinics in Kamloops and Prince George, a wildlife rehabilitation centre in Metchoisin, and the Vancouver provincial office that oversees animal cruelty investigations, advocacy, and education for youth and adults across BC. 4 THE OPPORTUNITY MANAGER, DIGITAL STRATEGY Reporting to the General Manager, Communications, the Manager of Digital Strategy will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic digital initiatives to support the mission of the BC SPCA. A progressive thinker and innovator, the Manager will connect digital to all other aspects of the BC SPCA s operations and drive growth opportunities. The Manager will identify opportunities for how information technology can be integrated, leveraged and experienced through digital interactions, and how digital interactions fit into broader user experience. Duties and Responsibilities Provide leadership in the ongoing evolution of the BC SPCA digital strategy aimed at furthering three key organizational pillars: Providing animal welfare education Connecting users to services Generating organizational support Oversee, and take an active role in, the implementation of the digital strategy, ensuring that annual plans and campaign tactics are strategically consistent; Help guide program departments in establishing digital goals and activities consistent with the digital strategy; 2 Page

5 Collaborate with the Digital Fundraising team to develop holistic lead generation strategy and campaigns that feed our rapidly growing online revenue stream; In close collaboration with the Manager of Information Technology and the Chief Development Officer, ensure that web and social media platforms are integrated with the society s existing online systems for shelter and hospital animal management, social enterprise initiatives and donor management; Identify new opportunities to increase supporter engagement through web / social media platforms; Analyze metrics and strive to ensure that the BC SPCA meets or exceeds key industry benchmarks; Assess emerging digital technologies and make recommendations as appropriate; Create implementation/integration plans as required; and Collaborate and build consensus among multiple stakeholders and senior leadership throughout the strategizing and planning processes. 3 Page

6 Collaborate with a team of individuals who provide editorial planning, writing and editing, website and e-newsletter management, social media coordination, photography and video to enhance the BC SPCA s digital presence: Provide coaching and technical expertise to these team members, as applicable; Provide strategic and technical guidance on digital initiatives to other BC SPCA departments and locations as required; Provide strategic leadership, advice and guidance in social media and online communications within Communications and digital support to other departments and branches; and Performs other duties as assigned. 4 Page

7 THE PERSON The successful candidate will have a well-formed ability to provide strategic and tactical direction on behalf of the BC SPCA. A proven track record of implementing leading edge digital technology-based campaigns that have business impact is the key experience required to be successful in this position. Possessing a collaborative leadership style and refined interpersonal skills will ensure the Manager is able to finesse the nuances of leading digital strategy and analytics in a not-for-profit context. The Manager should also be resilient and decisive, possessing sufficient business acumen and strategic capabilities to guide stakeholders through ever changing marketing and technology platforms. The BC SPCA has an engaged and growing online community and a leading online fundraising program. The Manager should crave a culture of innovation, and be comfortable with failing small, adapting fast and scaling for success. Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience: Minimum of four years post-secondary education/training related to information technology and/or digital strategy; degree in Communications, Marketing, or Digital Technology preferred; Minimum of seven years experience in the following areas: Search engine marketing, content marketing, social media strategy and advertising, video marketing, marketing, remarketing campaigns, and Pay Per Click (PPC) marketing; Customer Relationship Management (CRM), WordPress Content Management System (CMS), Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Business Manager, Google Adwords, Google my Business; Knowledge of Luminate CRM would be an asset Knowledge of basic HTML and CSS would be an asset Creating strategic plans and developing performance metrics to achieve set goals; digital campaigns; project management; 5 Page

8 Ability to build relationships, guide collaboration with stakeholders and across multiple departments; Strong presentation and interpersonal skills; Ability to develop training materials for a wide range of audiences, using a variety of training methods; and Ability to manage and support consensus for digital priorities in a multi-department organization. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to build marketing content based on the demands of different departments and that enabling their digital campaigns; Can demonstrate an ability to engage with and bring people together through digital platforms via highly innovative and creative campaigns; Strength in both building strategy and executing the work; A passion for the mission of the BC SPCA; Is able to shape the direction of the organization through digital platforms; and Possesses the leadership ability to continue to evolve and further define the function in line with market trends. 6 Page
