1 Analysis Analysis gives you quick and easy visibility of consumption data. It s designed to give a snapshot of the core elements associated with your consumption and present them in one of four ways: Overview report provides a summary of some of the key energy information. This report is useful for getting an overall picture before examining each report in depth. Profile shows data for each selected meter. Each of the meters is represented individually as separate series. If multiple date ranges are selected they will be grouped as one. Date range comparison report allows multiple date ranges to be compared. Multiple meters will be grouped as one Business hours report presents energy consumption for defined operational hours. Business hours may be defined as the occupational hours of the site or shift patterns. Unlimited hours can be defined for day/week. The reports are different from the reporting suite - they are intended to show only one element of usage at a time. These elements are: Cost in GBP kgco2 kva kw kwh (AI) kwh (AE) kvarh (RI) kvarh (RE) 2 Choosing the report you want to run To run an Analysis reports select Analysis from the Select Tool menu at the top of the screen: Registered in England and Wales No Page 3

Next, select the report you want to run: 3 Choosing the date range and grouping Once a report is opened you can select the date range, how to group the data and the type of date ranges in the report. Once selected, this information is set and can be used whilst you move between the four different reports. The menu is accessed by clicking Edit on the far right and it can be hidden and viewed by toggling between the Hide and Edit button whilst using the reports: 3.1 Changing the date range elements and grouping The drop down menu gives control of the date range and grouping used in the reports, the arrows indicating each element that can be changed these are covered in the next section: Registered in England and Wales No Page 4

3.1.1 Changing the data grouping Data grouping can be changed on reports that show it profile and business hours. On these reports this menu can be used to show the data at monthly, weekly, daily, hourly and half hourly groupings. Please note: For certain meter types such as daily metered gas anything below the daily grouping may not appear as expected Changing the calendar mode It s possible to switch the calendar between monthly and daily view this allows for greater control over the time period selected for reporting. Switch between the two using the symbol representing DD for daily calendar or MM for monthly: Changing the type of date selection There are three types of date range selection and each one affects how the reporting appears and works. Hovering the mouse over the three options lets you select between (from left to right) Individual series, Concurrent series and Single series : Single series the date range is selected as one series, from a single day or month up to the entire duration of data held in the system. This selection works correctly on all reports: Registered in England and Wales No Page 5

Concurrent Series the date range (daily or monthly mode) needs to be two or more of the same days or months in two separate periods. Make the first selection by dragging the range you require. Make the second selection by clicking and holding CTRL on the keyboard and dragging the range you require. If the periods are not the same length the report may look strange. This selection works best on date range comparison or overview: Individual series either drag a date range or press or hold CTRL to select individual dates or ranges. The report will plot each series (day or month) as an individual item on the report. This selection works best on date range comparison or overview: Registered in England and Wales No Page 6

3.1.4 Changing the range of the calendar Using the slider it s possible to centre the calendar on the period of time you are interested in. The system holds up to five years worth of data but the calendar displays only one. To move the calendar to the appropriate point in time slide it left or right to select the year to centre on: Using a fixed period on the calendar There s an option to select a fixed period on the calendar - the last thirty days, the last seven days or yesterday: Registered in England and Wales No Page 7

3.2 Choosing the data items to report on Items with the plug symbol on the tree view are selectable for using with Analysis. Depending on the report, multiple elements can be overlaid (see section four). Once the date range has been selected, click on the selection box next to the items to add to the report: Please note: If you want the report to compare meters it s important to select the same data type for each meter. For example picking kwh (AI) on the first meter would mean that kwh (AI) would need selecting for the second meter Choosing data types in reports If different data types are selected then they can be toggled on the reports by use of the drop down, as in the example below: Registered in England and Wales No Page 8

4 Differences in the reports The four different reports are able to display different series and date aggregations. 4.1 Overview report The overview report aggregates date ranges and displays information per meter. The details are represented in three information panes: Meters aggregated date range shown per meter Date range comparison aggregated meter data with percentage over date ranges Night and day/business hours business hour breakdown of usage per meter The report allows selection by data type if multiple data types are chosen (see section 3.2.1). 4.2 Energy profile The energy profile combines data ranges and represents the data on a per meter basis in graphical format. Each meter will be assigned a different colour. The report also allows for analysis of particular periods and drill down on chosen periods Analyse specific period To analyse a particular period on the report, drag the area on the top graph to select the date range you require: To reset the range press the Reset Zoom icon Registered in England and Wales No Page 9

4.2.2 Drill down on date range To zoom the graph into a date range, drag the area you want to look at on the bottom of the two graphs the screen will update to reflect your selection: To reset the range press the Reset Zoom icon 4.3 Date comparison The date comparison report is primarily designed as a single meter report multiple meters will be aggregated if selected. The report works best by selecting multiple periods using either Concurrent Series or Individual Series to report on (see section 3.1.3). Multiple date ranges are represented by different colours and shown as a graph, pie chart and totals per period: Please note: If too many date ranges are selected the graph may become quite busy. To rectify this, change the chart to line only (see section 5.1.5). Registered in England and Wales No Page 10

4.4 Business hours The business hours report is designed to show usage based on set working patterns. Before the report can be used these must be set up in the system Creating business hours Business hours are set at the company level and then applied to meters under the site. Whilst there are several steps to set up the details, it need only be done once and is then saved for future use. Multiple sets of business hours can be set up. Select the company you want to create the business hours under. All sites under this company can use the schedule Click create from the right hand menu list and then select schedule from the dropdown: Name the schedule and click Ok - the schedule will now appear in the tree view below the company. Select the newly created schedule and click Create again now choosing Schedule Date Next, select Name and either enter a date range for the schedule (multiple business hours can be applied over multiple date ranges) or select Done to apply the schedule to all dates. This populates the name field as Indefinite indefinite Registered in England and Wales No Page 11

Click the + sign next to a day to add a schedule to the day Select a Meta Tag for the schedule these are pre-set and start with OperationalHours. Either scroll down the list or start typing the name in the selection box: After selecting a tag, use the slider to set the time frame. Enter the base rate and conversion rate as zero then click OK Registered in England and Wales No Page 12

Repeat the above for all hours of the day use different tags to represent different activities during the day (such as open/closed). There must not be any gaps in the day: Repeat this process for all days there cannot be any gaps in the time periods for all days. Click the Advanced tab and set the schedule to Appliable and then click OK. The business hours schedule is now saved: Applying hours to the meter To apply the business hours, navigate to the data point against which you want to apply them and select Edit data point : Registered in England and Wales No Page 13

On the new screen select the schedule you want to apply to the meter: Next, click Ok to save the business hours against that data point. Repeat these steps for other data points that you want to apply the hours against Using the report Once the hours have been set up and applied to the meter data points, they can be used in the analysis reports. Data points with hours applied will now show the split the example below shows two meters: Registered in England and Wales No Page 14

5 Additional reporting functions Once the reports have run there are some options that can be applied to different elements of the reports. Depending upon which one of the four reports you have run, some of these options may not appear. Each of the individual functions is represented by a small icon. Hovering over it gives a description of its function. 5.1 Graph functions The graphs found in the Profile and Date Comparison reports have functions affecting display - they are tick boxes located at the bottom of the graph and can be used individually or in combination: Weekends Highlights weekends within the selected date range: Registered in England and Wales No Page 15

5.1.2 Accumulate This changes the graph to show cumulative usage. On the profile there is one line per meter if multiple meters are selected. On the date range report, there is one line for each date range: Average On a profile with more than one meter selected this gives the average usage line for the meters: Registered in England and Wales No Page 16

On the date comparison report it gives the average of the periods, where more than one period is selected: Total When applied on the profile report with multiple meters, this adds a line showing the total of all the meters usage Registered in England and Wales No Page 17

When applied on the date comparison report with multiple date ranges, it shows the total of the selected ranges in addition to each individual date range: Fill On both the profile and date range consumption reports this toggles between filled line and line only graphs: Registered in England and Wales No Page 18

5.1.6 Overlay series This function applies only to the date range consumption report and is best left on. If multiple date ranges are selected it overlays them. Switching it off puts the date ranges side by side and can produce unexpected results. 5.2 Per report functions All four report types have additional features and functions. These are located on the top of the report panes and represented by different icons Choosing data types This option allows choosing between the different data types on the meters (see section 3.2.1) Resetting zoom Allows for drill down on graphs (see section 4.2) Line chart, pie chart, split chart and percentage bar These options (if available) change the type of report: Line chart the graph is represented as lines can be filled, multiple meters or periods can be overlaid Pie chart data represented as a pie chart and on the profile each segment represents a meter Split chart on the profile this puts each meter on its own line chart, on the business hours the different time periods are shown separately. Percentage bar the data is represented as percentage bar and on the date range comparison each date range represents a portion of the bar Export This option exports the selected pane to a CSV file the data will depend on the section, number of meters, grouping and time period selected.
