6 Developing Strength Development Statements and Action Items To get started creating the content of the plan, review the available statements within the theme you have selected. You will want to find a competency/strength development statement that aligns directly with your business objective. Keep in mind that you will only develop 2-3 strength development statements. This will ensure that you are able to focus on a realistic number of action steps associated to reaching your business objective. When determining which competency/strength development statement you wish to utilize, it is not required that you pick one from each theme. You can pick competencies/strength development statements from any of the available themes. To start, select the box next to the competency/strength development statement you wish to utilize. Next, select 1-2 Coaching Recommendations you wish to utilize that align well with your business objective. Click to highlight the Coaching Recommendation(s) and select the down arrow to move them into the selected box. Hold the Ctrl key down to move more than one Coaching Recommendation at a time.

7 Now that you have selected your Coaching Recommendation(s), the final step in creating your strength development statement is to add Action Steps. These Action Steps are intended to actualize your selected competency/strength development statement. It should be the how in what you are trying to achieve. Ideally, Action Steps are intended to drive the desired measurable outcome. Select the Add Action Step button to begin. Type your action step content into the text box and select the Save button. Continue adding action steps until you are finished. These will be numbered steps within your action plan. To delete an action step, select the ( Step button to enter the new action ) icon and choose then select the Add Action step. Once your action steps are complete, choose the Save button at the bottom of the page to complete your competency/strength development statement.
