The Associate Programme Officer (partnerships) reports to the Chief of the Regional Office or the Deputy Chief of Office and works in close collaboration with the Partnerships, Intergovernmental processes and Inter-agency cooperation Branch in Geneva. Responsibilities: Within delegated authority, the Associate Programme Officer will be responsible for the following duties: Acts as the focal point for partnerships with the private sector, civil society and community-based organizations, Parliamentarians and the science and technology community in the region and collaborates closely with the Partnerships, Intergovernmental processes and Inter-agency cooperation Branch in Geneva. Supports engagement of partners at the regional and national level, in line with the overall UNISDR Partnership Engagement Strategy; collaborates closely with partnership focal points in other regional offices to ensure coherence and information exchange Facilitate partner s / stakeholders engagement in key regional processes such as regional platform conferences and regional coordination meetings; which includes but not limited to keeping track of stakeholder s commitments and facilitating updates during the above meetings/conferences; and managing regular communication and follow up with regional partners and stakeholder groups. Develops and maintains partner structures, groups and registries in the region, in line with the overall Partnership Engagement Strategy. Works with key clients to facilitate the design, implementation and evaluation of UNISDR Partnership Engagement Strategy, reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and recommends corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions. Carries out research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities, etc., to include collecting, analyzing and presenting data and other information gathered from diverse sources. Participates in survey initiatives; assists with design of data collection tools; issues data collection tools, reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares preliminary conclusions.

2 Undertakes outreach activities; participates in the development of training workshops, seminars, etc.; participates in and makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. Provides administrative and substantive support to workshops and other meetings, conferences, etc., including the drafting of meeting documents, proposing agenda topics, identifying and inviting participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc. Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. Suggests improvements of the Partnership Strategy based on the regional context for the review by the Chief of Office and the Partnerships, Intergovernmental processes and Inter-agency cooperation Branch in Geneva. Ensures regular information exchange with the Partnerships, Intergovernmental processes and Inter-agency cooperation Branch in Geneva, UNISDR partnerships focal points in other regions and with Global Education and Training Institute (GETI) located in Incheon. Participates in field missions. Coordinates activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and preparation of related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.). Performs other duties as required. Competencies: Professionalism: Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to particular sector, functional area or other specialized field. Ability to identify issues, analyze and participate in the resolution of issues/problems. Ability to assist with data collection using various methods. Conceptual analytical and evaluative skills to conduct independent research and analysis, including familiarity with and experience in the use of various research sources, including electronic sources on the internet, intranet and other databases. Ability to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Shows pride in work and in achievements; demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results; is motivated by professional rather than personal concerns; shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations. Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, partnerships, sustainable development or related area. Experience working in the private sector or civil society organizations is desirable. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this position, fluency in both English and French is required. Knowledge of other official language(s) spoken in the region is highly desirable.

4 United Nations CORE VALUES: INTEGRITY, PROFESSIONALISM, RESPECT FOR DIVERSITY Associated Programme Management Officer (Partnerships) - P2 Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific Suva Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationships: This position is based in UNISDR s Sub-Regional Office for the Pacific, in Suva. The incumbent reports to the Programme Management Officer leading UNISDR Pacific Office in Suva. S/he will work in line with UNISDR s Partnership Engagement Strategy. In doing so s/he will work in collaboration with the Partnerships, Intergovernmental Processes and Interagency Cooperation Branch in Geneva, the External Relations Officer in Bangkok and relevant focal points at the Global Education and Training Institute for DRR (GETI), in Incheon. Responsibilities: Within delegated authority, the Programme Management Officer will: Act as the focal point for partnerships with the private sector, civil society and community-based organizations, the science and technology community, and other stakeholder groups in the Pacific. Support engagement of partners at the sub-regional and national level; and works closely with the External Relations Officer in Bangkok towards improved partner relations and better knowledge management in the Asia Pacific region. Map UNISDR s past and current engagements with stakeholder groups in the region, develop and maintain partner registries, and define potential partnerships and value propositions. Support and monitor stakeholder engagement in the Framework for Resilient Development in the Pacific and how their work is contributing to implementation of the Sendai Framework. Carry out research and compiles reports and news articles, as directed, on pertinent subjects as well as aspects of programming and partnership. Undertake outreach activities, particularly in terms of World Tsunami Awareness Day and International Day for Disaster Reduction; participates in the development of training workshops, seminars, etc.; participates in and makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. Ensures regular information exchange with the Partnerships, Intergovernmental processes and Inter-agency cooperation Branch in Geneva, UNISDR partnerships focal points in other regions and other units as necessary. Participates in field missions.
