1 Job Description Position: Location Pay Span or equivalent: 5a Finance Manager - Criminal Justice Group London 29,595 to 34,192 (with additional accountancy allowance of up to 5,000 based on level of qualification) + excellent benefits Purpose of the Role/ Key Responsibilities As a budget manager for a directorate within the Criminal Justice Group as part of the wider Finance Business Partnering Team working within Corporate Finance, this role has particular focus on the accounts of core MOJ directorates as well as offering support across other areas of the group as required. The post holder will need to align with the Corporate Finance Priorities of: Stewardship - Maintaining the financial integrity of the Department. Direction - Supporting the Department s strategic priorities, planning & decision making. Capability - Improving the department s financial management and commercial awareness Improving our Directorate - Inclusive, well lead, skilled and with manageable workloads Key Responsibilities: Develop relationships with the budget holders and their teams to understand their priorities and spending plans providing advice and guidance. Produce accurate, reliable Financial Management Packs offering analysis and interpretation of the financial position using the financial system and other management information available. Conduct a monthly review of expenditure and income against budget and profiles, performance against targets. Identify and explain variances, making recommendations on action. Review forecasts with business colleagues to feed into the monthly accounts accurately. Manage and monitor the staff tracker for the Directorate, providing headcount and other staff related data, reporting resource requirements and forecasting reliable staffing costs. Liaise with business areas to collate information and identify key financial risks, pressures and opportunities. Act as a key contact for the Secondee and Fast Stream staff recharges between HR and the business and work with Corporate Finance colleagues to ensure accurate and timely intercompany recharges and invoices as required. Complete other standard month end activities including but not limited to accrual and prepayments adjustments, cash forecasting and review of monthly transparency data. Work with the directorate, and others as required, to produce detailed budgets for the new financial year and in year budget versions in line with allocations and upload to the finance system as required. Provide a challenge function to the business in effectively managing their budget allocations and financial decisions. Contribute to the various wide ongoing financial planning exercises (annual budgets, Medium Term Financial Plans, In-Year monitoring, Month-end etc) in line with MOJ requirements.

3 Essential Criteria Comfortable working with financial and qualitative data. Good drafting skills including the ability to present data/figures. Excellent oral communication and the ability to build and maintain working relationships with internal stakeholders. Excellent organisational skills, to ensure important deadlines are met when dealing with work on a number of fronts. Attention to detail to ensure reports are accurate. Minimum of basic MS Excel skills Desirable Criteria Part qualified - either a full member of the AAT (MAAT status) or working towards a CCAB accounting institute, CIMA or a recognised equivalent qualification, having passed the 1st stage of exams Experience of working with the Oracle system MS Excel Skills (Intermediate) Salary, Working Arrangements and Further Information [Amended with terms] London based Full time, flexible working arrangements available
