1 Volume 14, Issue 1 January 2013 Message from CCSHRM President Lisa O Connor mailto:lisa.oconnor@co.charlotte.fl.us Happy New Year Everyone, I would first like to give thanks to each and every one of you who support CCSHRM and all the good work we do for our membership and our community; if it wasn t for your hard work, dedication and support, we couldn t continue to do all the great things we have planned for our current and future members. It is in this spirit that I pledge to continue to emulate the success of all those who have preceded me and I promise to bring our members a year filled with fun, excitement and new experiences in my role as your 2013 President. We kick off the year with a first of its kind, new member networking and orientation-evening mixer. Heather Lupinetti, Membership Chair, has planned an evening extravaganza. More info is on page 3. 2 New Member Corner Membership Information For membership information or application forms for CCSHRM, contact Heather Lupinetti, Membership Chair at (941) Completed new member applications received before the first Tuesday of the month will be considered at the Board meeting held that month. Any application received on or after the first Tuesday of the month will be considered for approval at the next month s Board meeting. The updated membership roster will be sent by to paid members. If you do not receive your new roster, please or call Heather or visit our web site Member Login Section at Board Meetings The Board Meetings for 2013 are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 12:00 noon at the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce in Port Charlotte. All CCSHRM members are welcome to attend. Our mission is to be transparent and accessible to all members. The HR Florida State Council, a state affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) attracts over 1,000 human resource professionals and vendors throughout the state of Florida and across the nation. These individuals represent virtually every HR industry and this event will provide you with one-on-one access to hundreds of HR vendor/industry contacts. CCSHRM is offering a chance for your name to be entered into a Raffle to win a Free Registration to this year s HR Florida Conference. Attendance to our monthly meetings and/or evening events will provide you an entry into this raffle, with winner(s) being announced by July The value of this event gift is $ Good Luck! 4 Member Spotlight Dan Frees, CCSHRM Program Chair Dan currently works for Southwest Florida Works as an Employment Security Representative (ESR1). Before starting as an ESR, Dan retired from the U. S. Army and Army National Guard after serving for over 39 years. The last 15 years served was as a First Sergeant and was in conjunction with 22 years performing as a Readiness NCO. Dan is a graduate of the U. S. Army First Sergeants Course and he holds a Business Management degree and is anticipated to receive an Accounting degree in April of this year. His role at Southwest Florida Works is to assist employers in finding quality long-term employees by matching job seeker qualifications with employer s needs. He also helps job seekers by providing reemployment services and teaches classes on topics such as resume writing, interviewing skills, job search techniques and job development activities. Job development activities include matching job seekers, who are exceptionally qualified in an area of expertise, with employers who may benefit from specific skills sets. This office also conducts mass hiring recruitment activities for large corporate employers during peak hiring periods and for staffing agencies that need local assistance. Southwest Florida Works provides these services free to all employers and job seekers. Please help us welcome Dan in his new role as our 2013 CCSHRM Program Chair.
