It specialises in preparing international students for undergraduate and postgraduate study with both academic and English language support. The courses at our Centres, upon successful completion, guarantee progression to leading UK and US undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as stand-alone English language courses. Requirements As the Student Support Assistant you will assist colleagues within the Student Experience, Admissions, Finance and Student Progress teams to provide efficient and effective administrative support, student supervision and engagement to deliver a comprehensive range of services to students over the summer period. Reporting to the Student Experience Manager, you will be flexible in your approach to your duties, self-motivated and committed to delivering a high quality service. You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to communicate positively at all levels, whilst being efficient and enthusiastic. A key aspect of this role is the ability to work to a high standard of accuracy and to handle issues of a sensitive nature professionally and discreetly. A key requirement of the role is that the successful candidates are flexible in their availability, as weekend and evening work will be required and working hours and days will vary each week, averaging out at 37.5 hours per week. 2 Salary Pay Band A Pay Band Salary Range 15,809-18,180 Hours of work Full time, working on average 37.5 hours per week. Exact number of hours worked will vary each week on a rota basis agreed in advance with the Student Experience Manager. Hours will not exceed 48 hours per week. Evening and weekend work will be required. You will be paid on a full time basis, based on 37.5 hours per week. The assessment centre will take place w/c 20 th May Please allow a full day, timings will be provided to you upon invite and it is expected that the assessment centre will only take half a day. Reporting Line The Student Support Assistant reports to the Student Experience Manager. Job Purpose To support colleagues within the Student Experience, Admissions, Finance and Student Progress teams to provide efficient and effective administrative support, student supervision and engagement. Job dimensions Will have contact with students, staff and managers within the Centre and with key stakeholders internally across the INTO organisation and University staff. Flexible working (evening/weekends) is a key dimension of these posts. Key Accountabilities To provide administrative support and assistance to the Student Experience, Admissions, Finance and Student Progress teams in the delivery of an effective service to students To support the delivery of a fulfilling and enjoyable social programme, which will include the supervision of students during weekend and evening activities and the handling of petty cash Support the functions and processes associated with the successful delivery of the programmes running during the summer term, such as Pre-Sessional English and English for University Study. 4 To support the administration of the University English Language Assessment (UELA) in late September and early October. To assist in the delivery of registration, induction and orientation presentations, awards ceremony and transcript handout events Undertake data entry and other administrative support, including the maintenance of student records To assist in the provision of a Meet & Greet service to students To assist with reception duties, acting as first point of contact for requests and queries from students, visitors and telephone callers of an academic or administrative nature Your job title does not define or limit your duties and you may be required to carry out other work within your abilities from time to time at our request. 5 Person Specification Legal Status Academic Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Experience Essential Appropriate DBS disclosure will be required prior to confirmation of appointment Eligibility to work in the UK Educated to A Level standard or equivalent Excellent command of written and spoken English. Experience of using a range of office based IT software packages Well-developed communication skills and ability to communicate with colleagues and students A good cultural awareness and experience of interacting with international students. Excellent time management skills. Personal Quick thinking and approachable Consistently display a positive approach to the working environment. Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends to deliver the social programme. The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines & work accurately under pressure. Commitment to working as part of a team. Ability to build and manage relationships with staff & students.
