Our fight leads us to cases in the UK and across the globe and we are looking for a new Business Services Officer to help take the organisation into the next phase of is journey. We work with a broad range of partners, funders and collaborators which makes our operations complex in order to be responsive. We realise the importance of having a robust organisation that can operate within this complex and increasingly competitive market place to complement what others are doing. The role of Business Services Officer sits within the Finance and Resources team and is critical to the organisation s success. It is an integral role supporting the organisations day-to-day administration and office management, enabling it to achieve its strategic aims. We are looking for someone with outstanding and dynamic skills and experience who can embody our values and who shares our passion for fighting against modern slavery. We are also looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work on their own initiative and work well with others. 5 Our vision and mission We are working towards a world free from slavery. Our mission is to work directly and indirectly with beneficiaries and stakeholders from the grassroots to the global level to eradicate slavery and its causes from the world. About us Founded in 1839, Anti-Slavery International s heritage spreads back to British abolitionists such as Thomas Clarkson and Joseph Sturge. Today, we draw on our experience to work to end all forms of slavery and slavery like practices throughout the world, including forced labour, debt bondage, human trafficking, descent-based slavery, the worst forms of child labour and forced marriage. We are ambitious: last year we directly reached over 77,388 people to help them live in freedom and reduce their vulnerability to slavery. Between now and 2020 we aim to reach thousands more. We are small and dynamic but that does not limit our impact; we interact at local, national and international governance levels and are respected for our expertise on slavery issues and how to tackle it. Anti-Slavery works to tackle slavery at its root causes - the intersection between poverty, discrimination and the weak rule of law. 6 The Future Our Strategy Anti-Slavery s strategic priority is to ensure significant progress towards slavery eradication in at least 10 countries by 2020 through working with beneficiaries and stakeholders from grassroots to the global level to address slavery and its root causes. Our projects underpin local to global advocacy aimed at achieving sustained, systemic change. We have an ambitious strategic plan, Anti-Slavery will have obtained significant changes in at least 10 countries, through the establishment of new, or effective implementation of existing national laws, policies or practices for the benefit of people affected by or vulnerable to slavery by Our strategic objectives outline Anti-Slavery s focus for this strategic period: 1. Duty bearers are responsive and accountable to the rights and needs of people affected by and vulnerable to slavery 2. People affected by and vulnerable to slavery are empowered to understand, assert and claim their rights 3. The social norms and attitudes that underpin and perpetuate slavery are rejected 4. Ensure the financial sustainability of the organisation through generating increased voluntary income from a diverse range of sources Our Team Anti-Slavery is led on a day to day basis by the CEO Jasmine O Connor OBE and a Senior Management team (SMT), comprising a Head of Fundraising and Communication, Head of Programmes and Advocacy and Head of Finance and Resources. Jasmine joined the organisation as CEO in March She has extensive leadership experience in international human rights work, leading campaigns that combine practical grassroots programmes with policy change initiatives at multiple levels. She has held senior positions with ADD International (Action on Disability and Development), the equal rights campaigning group Stonewall and Article 19, as well as advisory positions with the UK Department of International Development and the UK Foreign Office.

7 Our Programmatic Operations Our reach is global; operating in the UK and overseas. We work closely with 17 local partner organisations on projects in 14 countries, as well as work that impacts on all 28 EU member states. We also work in 10 strategic alliances with almost 500 combined members, as well as working in coalitions and partnerships covering the whole world. With our partners, we can build a world free from slavery. Together, we: Investigate and expose current cases and forms of slavery Support victims of slavery in their struggle for freedom Empower individuals and communities vulnerable to slavery to demand respect for their human rights and obtain protection Work with the private sector to identify and address slavery in global supply chains. Influence policymakers to act in support of victims and vulnerable people Press for effective implementation of laws against slavery Finance and Resources Our London based Finance and Resources Team plays a vital role in supporting the whole organisation. We aim to work in an integrated way which ensures the financial sustainability of the organisation. This team works together to: Develop the financial strategy and plans Ensure that financial reporting, both internal & external is timely and accurate Support the programmes and fundraising teams Develop the IT strategy and plans Ensure we have the appropriate standards of health & safety and data protection Support our people with policies and procedures reflecting best practice Manage our freehold offices Income Generation and Communications Anti-Slavery has ambitions to grow its impact, to do that a new income generation and communications strategy was developed in 2017 to ensure adequate quantity and quality of funds. The team works together to: Generate funds of c 900,000 voluntary and c 1,850,000 restricted income from a range of sources. Work across a range of stakeholders generating major gifts, contracted funds, and voluntary income from members and individual supporters Grow a successful trading income stream which provides consultancy on slavery in supply chains to businesses in the UK and overseas Build on a well-recognised and digitally well embedded brand Increase profile in the UK and international media that leads people to act in support of ending slavery

8 Anti-Slavery International JOB DESCRIPTION Business Services Officer Reporting to: Responsible for: Head of Finance and Resources Interns and volunteers, as agreed Key Relationships: Senior Management Team members and works closely with the Finance and Administration Officer Salary Range: Grade B - 29,195 31,877 Duration: Full time, permanent Overall purpose of the role: To support the Senior Management Team to ensure the smooth running of the organisations administrative and governance systems and ensure the office building is safe and effectively maintained. Main Duties Support to the Senior Management Team To organise schedules of SMT meetings To manage the CEO s diary and respond to correspondence To make travel arrangements Attending and providing event support to SMT as required Governance - To support the SMT to service the Board and Sub-Committees To act as the main point of contact for the Board of Trustees Developing meeting schedules and venues Collating and sending out papers in advance of all meetings Minute meetings and ensuring accurate records are kept Maintaining the Trustee SharePoint site Ensuring up to date Trustee eligibility and conflict of interest registers are maintained Maintaining the Governance Handbook and ensuring that it is updated accordingly Organising the AGM in collaboration with the SMT Working with the designated Safeguarding lead on the board and at staff level to ensure DBS checks are taken and maintained as required Updating governance changes on the Company House and Charity Commission websites Assist with the recruitment, induction and training of new trustees

9 Administration To staff the reception and act as a first point of contact for people visiting the building or making general enquiries over the phone or , ensuring that basic queries are answered, and individuals are signposted to other staff as appropriate. To securely open all mail and ensure it is kept within GDPR best practice and to log bank and process incoming donations. To ensure all outgoing mail is franked and stamped To ensure routine supplies are ordered To ensure that photocopier and franking machines are maintained To keep logs of equipment, including mobile phones and computers and to order new equipment as required Developing and maintaining key systems e.g. recruitment, staff leaving, IT permissions etc. Human Resources and IT Maintaining accurate HR records, including through the online system, ensuring staff have read and signed onto key policies and retaining appropriate recruitment process records Supporting hiring managers across the organisation to advertise and recruit staff Maintaining up to date repository for all HR policies, ensuring SMT are alerted when policies are due for revision and ensuring staff are informed of any changes Maintaining the HR Handbook and working with the external HR supplier to ensure it is accurate and up to date with legislation Managing the relationship with the IT supplier, troubleshooting day to day issues and supporting the Head of Finance and Resources to further develop the organisations IT effectiveness To be responsible for the implementation of the volunteer policy and to support teams across the organisation with volunteer recruitment and induction To act as a day to day contact point on GDPR and work with the Head of Finance and Resources to ensure that all data is collected and stored in line with policy Organising and maintaining the shared computer drive Building oversight and Health and Safety Maintain oversight of the building and ensure that any maintenance work takes place in a timely fashion Ensure that regular health and safety checks take place, including electric, fire, water and boiler Ensure up to date health and safety risk assessments are maintained Work with all teams to ensure that line managers and staff are aware of their responsibilities for health and safety

10 PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Criteria At least 3 years experience in a business services officer role, or similar role with significant responsibility for administration Highly organised and efficient Ability to manage time, plan, prioritise and meet deadlines Self-motivated and an ability to deliver on routine tasks as well as specific projects Experience of setting up systems and ensuring they are understood and followed Experience of minute taking Ability to take initiative Ability to collaborate with others internally and manage external contacts and suppliers High attention to detail Ability to solve problems Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong IT skills Numerically literate Understanding of the importance of the role in enabling Anti-Slavery to deliver on its mission Commitment to the aims of Anti-Slavery International Ability to work in a small and diverse organisation and commitment to ensuing equal opportunities Desirable Criteria Knowledge of human rights and/or international development Degree level or equivalent education Summary Terms and Conditions Based in Stockwell, London 35 hours per week Annual leave entitlement is 30 days including 3 days which must be taken between Christmas and New Year Pension 6% employer contribution and 2% employee contribution from April 2019 Probationary period 4 months Unison is the recognised trade union
