4 Member Spotlight Angela Brown, CCSHRM Foundation Chair Angela Brown, PHR has been with the City of North Port for almost 6 years as the Employee Services Coordinator. She has been in the human resource field over 14 years, starting her career as a receptionist at the front desk of a staffing company. From there, she fulfilled roles at various companies as a placement coordinator, HR Specialist, Recruiting Supervisor and HR Manager in Michigan. Upon moving to Florida 6 1/2 years ago, she started as an HR Generalist in Sarasota before obtaining her first position in the public sector. Angela earned her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a focus on Human Resource Management from Baker College of Port Huron and obtained her PHR in January, Angela has been a member of CCSHRM for 3 years. After working as a production associate in a manufacturing company for a few years, Angela decided it was time for a career change. Human Resources looked like an interesting job with a great deal of satisfaction, and indeed it turned out to be more rewarding (and challenging) than she could have imagined. Every day is different, laws are constantly changing, and there is always an employee at some level needing your help. The best part of her current position is everything, and her co-workers just make it that much better. Angela believes she was meant to be in HR and couldn t imagine doing anything different. It makes it easy to further your career and education when you have a passion for your job. Please welcome Angela Brown in her new role as CCSHRM 2013, Certification Foundation Chair. Page #4
