4 MEASUREMENT AND POST-PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT Self-discovery and self-awareness are essential to developing our capacity to lead. And a core component in that process includes personal reflection and analysis of our own behaviours as leaders. Equally as valuable is insight and feedback from those around us who know us well, who have experience of us in our role as a leader. The Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI ) 360-degree assessment developed by Kouzes and Posner, measures leadership behaviours and provides the cornerstone of our Challenge to Lead programs. It contains 30 behavioural statements six for each of The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership and takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete. With data gathered from over 3 million leaders around the world, the LPI is based on an incomparable foundation of original, evidence-based research and rigorous testing, completed over more than 25 years. Millions of people have used the LPI 360 as a first step to reaching their personal leadership best a clear indication that leadership is a practice that can be learned by anyone, and is not an inborn skill for the lucky few. The LPI 360 is completed by all Challenge to Lead participants prior to attending the program and then again 5 months after completion, with a report being generated to show before and after results in leadership growth and development. In order to realise lasting improvement, the following post program activities are incorporated: Ongoing exercises that encourage continuous improvement and habitual application of The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership ; Post-programme assessment report on individual growth in leadership capability by comparing results of the pre- and post-program 360-degree assessments; Optional one-on-one coaching with 6 sessions spread over approximately 6 months for participants and organisations interested in maximising development and change. IN SUMMARY The Challenge to Lead programs provide an eminently practical, experiential and exhilarating model of leadership development that has proven eectiveness in liberating the leadership potential in any person, at any level, in any organisation. By attending, participants find a wealth of resources that help them discover where they want their leadership journey to take them and the tools for developing the skills they need to reach their destination.
