If you are a law graduate and would like to work with us, you need to have: - solid common sense and curiosity; - appetite for challenging work; - strong work ethic and drive; - team spirit; - creativity Everything else you can learn and improve with us Is it really as challenging as I've heard it is? We expect a lot from our people and there are no shortcuts, but we offer a lot in return One thing is for sure - you will not be bored Be prepared for the most interesting transactions and challenges in the region The first six months combine training with real work: All work and no play? Not a chance If I succeed as a what happens next? It s not unusual to find us relaxing in break rooms, playing X-Box, darts or pretty competitive table tennis matches - to add a little fun to our lunch breaks We work as a team, but we also make sure we celebrate as one too: from rooftop parties in Belgrade, rock climbing in Montenegro, to mingling with the movie stars at the Sarajevo Film Festival Teamwork is essential at Karanovic & Partners And teamwork calls for a genuine interest in other people, acceptance of our differences and an open minded approach Our teams are close-knit, and from the moment you start, you will have all the support from your direct supervisors and our training & development team - Developing an understanding of a client s business in different industry sectors through workshops and assignments; - Daily mentoring and supervision; - We have our own internal coach and we have tailored a number of mentoring programmes for the specific needs of our people; - You will have an opportunity to work on complex cross-border transactions while being a part of multidisciplinary and multinational teams on projects of an international scope; - You will be meeting and working with clients across different industry sectors, which enables our trainees to better understand our clients businesses and needs; - And since the learning never stops we have programmes for Senior Associates and Partners as well We train our lawyers with the future in mind and want you to succeed and develop a long-term career with us - Lectures with our top lawyers covering all our practice areas, followed by assignments and feedback; - Soft-skills trainings (drafting skills, presentation skills, business of law, etc); - You will be given access to all of our internal training programmes taught by internal and external experts, as well as a chance to participate in workshops with our clients and put your learning into context; How to apply? - Oral exams covering corporate law and contracts; - M&A written exam; - Assignments related to the entire practice of a major law firm business development, finance, human resources, administration - Supervised real legal work in all our practice areas* If you show the required competences you will start working on more complex projects and move on to our regular associate trainings *Training programmes may differ depending on jurisdiction In Serbia we recruit twice a year: - May -applications due by 1 April - November -applications due by 1 October Only shortlisted candidates will be informed Apply wwwkaranovicpartnerscom

4 Myths & Legends Once upon a time there were some lawyers who had impossibly high standards for their trainees, so only a few insanely brave ones dared to apply for the job Over the years we ve heard a number of incredible stories about our recruitment process and work in general And it s high time to uncover the truth behind these urban legends and bust some myths You need to have top grades Not true at all We care about common sense, creativity, legal curiosity, work ethic and drive Majority of our past had pretty average grades, but they have top legal minds Don t be discouraged to apply if you have low grades LL M degree from Harvard or Oxford is required When it comes to education, it is only important that you are a law graduate LL M is not a requirement for us We encourage further specialization and education, however, a Master s degree is not essential when we consider potential Only those with connections can get a job That is simply not true Only those who show real qualities can become And relying on your own skills and hard work is a quality we really appreciate Respect both yourself and us and don t even try to find a connection Believe in yourself You have to speak 2 languages perfectly, preferably Mandarin and Swahili You need to have a good command of English, but it does not have to be perfect And we really do not expect you to know all the fancy legal terminology You will improve your English through daily work with us If you are over 25, don t bother to apply One of our past trainees was 42 years young when he started his training So, age really does not matter We are not hiring Moot-participants / We are only hiring Moot-participants Participation in a Moot Court and similar competitions is not required, and certainly it s not an obstacle What we appreciate is to learn about life experiences that made you the person you are whether these experiences are sports, work, books or anything else that you re passionate about We will consider every application TRUE Not a single CV we receive will be ignored We will give a chance to every potential And remember myths and legends are usually created by people who were too afraid to try or who failed and are looking for an excuse Don t regret not giving it a try!
