5 3. Expertise Andy Irvine Partner Andy looks after many of our larger corporate clients for whom he closely monitors their accounting and taxation requirements. Having gained extensive experience working for a Big 4 firm, Andy is ideally placed to manage and supervise larger assignments. As a Chartered Tax Adviser he actively identifies tax planning opportunities for clients and has considerable experience in leading due diligence assignments The key area that Andy focusses on is really understanding his clients businesses and the challenges they face. This allows him to ensure that our advice is as relevant and valuable as possible. 6 3. Howard Freeman Partner Howard joined Shorts as a Partner after 11 years of training and experience gained at the international firms Coopers & Lybrand and PricewaterhouseCoopers. As both a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser he is well placed to provide comprehensive, commercial and sensible advice to his clients, which are mainly SME and family companies, charities, partnerships and individuals. Howard is a registered auditor and as well as providing accountancy and taxation advice, he prides himself in keeping in touch with his clients throughout the year so that he can act as a sounding board and trusted adviser and advise them on a timely basis Howard has been an active member of the ICAEW locally and was very proud to hold the position of President of the Sheffield & District Society of Chartered Accountants for 2017/18. This role involved representing the interests of Chartered Accountants locally and promoting the business community of Sheffield and South Yorkshire around the UK. Andrew Heelin Accounts Director Andrew joined Shorts directly from leaving school in 1974, and is one of Shorts longest Ceri Lewis Healthcare Director Ceri has in excess of 30 years experience of advising clients within the healthcare sector and has a particular specialism in GP Practices. serving employees. Having substantial accounts and audit experience, Andrew has looked after several generations of many of his oldest clients. He has accrued vast experience over the years and has particular specialisms in the legal profession, building trade and farming. 9 3. Malcolm Pope Partner Malcolm joined Shorts directly from university and progressed through the firm before being promoted to Audit and Accounts partner. He advises many of our clients who take advantage of our Genus service and has responsibility for ensuring that Genus remains a market leader. By responding to the development and creation of new products in the online marketplace, he ensures that Shorts continue to provide a service of the highest standard. Malcolm s goal is for our clients to have the ability to make better decisions because of Shorts input Expertise Malcolm s natural disposition towards new technology has enabled him to be instrumental in developing the firm s cloud accounting strategy for clients and he is particularly proud of Shorts achievement in being the region s first Xero Platinum Partner and Shorts success as advisory firm of the year in the Yorkshire Accountancy Awards.
