1 Position Description Director, Educational Delivery Position Overview The Director, Educational Delivery will bring strong strategic leadership in the provision of industry led, educational delivery programs across all student-centric academic portfolios at Federation Training. The Director leads and drives the delivery of all educational operations, including products, teaching systems, programs and administration of student academic progression. The role will ensure high levels of stakeholder satisfaction with educational outcomes. The Director leads, fosters and creates an enduring culture of educational excellence amongst all teaching staff and insists on continual improvement of teaching methods that enhances student satisfaction and the student experience. The Director is accountable to, and works closely with the CEO, to provide academic and fiscal direction, and leadership to a team of five Managers, each of whom are responsible for discrete educational Business Areas. The position is a part of the Executive Management Team and in particular, the appointee will work closely with the Director, Academic Governance to ensure educational excellence; managing financial and budget requirements, creating business growth and building and maintaining a motivated, effective, respectful working team environment within the education portfolio and wider organisation. Position Location This is an Institute-based position. The incumbent will be required to travel to, and operate from, any of the Institute s campuses. A base location at a Gippsland campus will be identified with the successful candidate. Position Purpose Federation Training s performance and reputation is enhanced because the Director, Educational Delivery ensures quality educational delivery that: meets student, industry, community, government and Institute needs, and results in high levels of student enrolment and contact hours, plus high attendance, retention, completion and achievement rates. The Director, Educational Delivery also contributes to Federation Training s performance and reputation through strategic leadership for the Institute as a whole as a member of the Executive Team. We provide accessible, quality education and training that inspires individuals to achieve their career goals. In partnership with local organisations and employers, we develop industry-aligned training programs and promote community development across our diverse region. Our major campuses are located at Bairnsdale, Sale/Fulham, Traralgon, Morwell, Leongatha, Yallourn, Warragul and Chadstone. Federation Training s priority objectives for are to: 1. Engage with schools, industry and community stakeholders to ensure that TAFE programs and services remain relevant to the modern workforce. 2. Provide a life-changing educational experience that enables students to achieve their full potential. 3. Key Accountabilities Strategic Leadership Lead educational areas to develop educational products that meet student and other customer group expectations. Ensure education planning and programming lifecycle meets best practice business processes for the effective and efficient delivery of Schools and Vocational Education. Develop educational strategic and operational plans and provide input to the overall Federation Training strategy and budget process. Anticipate and lead new directions in quality education and training delivery including advocating flexible delivery, online learning and workplace modes. Commercial in Confidence Page 2 of 7
3 Business Growth and Commercial Focus Build strategic industry partnerships in key sectors based on current and future needs. Prepare commercially focused and high-quality education solutions in line with specific customer requirements to ensure business growth and customer satisfaction. Ensure products and services are contemporary, responsive to changing market demands, with a commercial focus applied to decisions. Build new and strengthen existing enterprise and commercial partnerships locally and internationally, to increase educational outcomes, market share and stakeholder satisfaction. Student Experience and Educational Excellence Lead and ensure that the organisation s focus is on quality outcomes for students and stakeholders providing accessible and innovative programs that meet learning needs and vocational outcomes. Drive the organisation to meet the key performance indicators related to educational quality including student and employer satisfaction. Ensure processes and plans are implemented to facilitate student satisfaction and success. Invest in innovative, cost-effective and user-centric systems and processes to improve customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and other key performance indicators. Operational Leadership Drive the effective management and use of resources and other assets to ensure they are employed in the achievement of our strategic goals. Ensure all registration requirements are met, renewed and complied with, without penalty. Ensure that Federation Training meets its State and National educational regulations, financial, contractual and legislative requirements to a high standard to build reputation and ensure organisational sustainability. Ensure systems and processes are compliant, documented and responsive to business, client and regulatory requirements. People Leadership Effectively lead a high performing business area by: Creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, respectful and positive work environment free from discrimination, bullying and harassment Foster a culture of accountability, productivity, continuous improvement, customer centric and educational excellence Guiding, coaching and mentoring staff towards a culture of achievement that acknowledges the input of others Encourage and lead staff to undertake relevant professional development. Use strong evidence-based research to develop educational product and delivery options in each discipline for the market. Promote the evolution of teaching and learning practices through continuous improvement of program offerings, design, and delivery, and by supporting, recognising and rewarding teachers contributions. Lead and champion Federation Training s quality and continuous improvement processes to: drive confidence within our people and build high performing aligned teams provide measurable and improving results in quality educational products and services improve student and customer satisfaction and value build our commercial business domestically and internationally. Collaboration and Partnership Build and maintain constructive and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Be responsive to stakeholder needs, (students/industry/government and educational partners) to develop, produce and implement innovative, competitive and flexible delivery products and services to the highest quality standards. Identify and develop a strong industry focus that results in enduring partnerships that build business, improve educational delivery, enhance institute reputation, and optimise student engagement and retention. Identify and develop relationships with external agencies and relevant community service providers to collaborate on design and delivery solutions to drive outcomes that can be measured and assessed. Organisational Relationships The Director, Educational Delivery reports to the Chief Executive Officer. Five Heads of Department currently report to this position. Executive management experience in the higher education or vocational education sectors will be highly regarded.
