About Emotional Intelligence Emotional intelligence is the ability to use emotions effectively; it includes emotional awareness and management, and leads to healthy and successful relationships at work, school, and home. Since Peter Salovey and John Mayer published their seminal research defining this intelligence in 1990, a world-wide movement has emerged. Drawing on the work of Salovey, Mayer, and other researchers, Daniel Goleman published Emotional Intelligence in 1995; Goleman now has over 5 million books in print translated to 30 languages. The Harvard Business Review calls emotional intelligence a revolutionary, paradigm-shattering idea their 1995 article on the subject is the journal s most requested reprint in history.
