1 Assistant Vice President of Lending Summary Assists in the oversight and management of Mortgage, Consumer and Indirect lending functions. Support SVP in the management of strategic planning, development of the credit union lending policies, procedures and lending goals of the Credit Union. Manage the daily functions and operations of the Credit Unions Lending departments. Assist in maintaining low delinquency by supporting and training associates and underwriters in sound front end underwriting standards. DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES: 1) Manage and direct the functions of all lending areas to ensure all policies, procedures and regulatory requirements are followed. 2) Manage and direct the loan functions and each lending department to achieve its strategic goals. Oversee the work of loan managers in all lending areas to include underwriting, loan processing, loan documentation, and approval or denial of loans for consumer, mortgage, or business loans. Act as a loan authority and back up when needed or required. Travel to all regions will be required. 3) Participate in the credit union s long- and short-term strategic planning. Attend annual strategic planning conference. 4) Assist SVP of Lending with Credit Unions strategic plans using lead and lag measures to ensure the target goals for the department are met monthly, quarterly and annually by each lending area. Identify and communicate trends or issues to SVP of Lending to ensure each area is on track to reach targets. Requires analytical thinking and forecasting. 5) Ensure maximum profitability of lending activities that are also in the best interest of the member. 6) Communicate credit union goals and direction with all associates to ensure clear understanding of rules, regulations, requirements, and expectations. 7) Support the budget requirements set by Senior Management and assist in annual budget planning.. 8) Assist in the development and monitoring of performance standards. Provide mentoring, coaching, or training to support and develop managers and associates in all departments. 9) Assist in researching and evaluating the feasibility of new lending products. Keep abreast of changes in the industry and changing trends in lending. Assist in implementing new products and services.
2 10) Work with loan managers and members on complex issues to prevent loss to the credit union and support the membership. 11) Represent and promote the credit union at external functions and events. 11) Provide reports and research data for the Board and Executive staff as needed 12) Oversee the functionality of the lending origination systems used in the Credit Union and suggest and oversee changes as necessary 13) Oversee and assist with updates and changes to ancillary products offered through the lending department. Assist managers in keeping abreast of changes and updates to the products offered. 14) Stay abreast of all regulatory laws and changes and the ability to disseminate the impact and changes necessary to remain in compliance. Keep SVP of Lending informed of possible regulatory changes in all areas of lending and offer solutions to eliminate risk exposure to the Credit Union. 15) Other duties and projects as needed and assigned by SVP of Lending. Education and/or Experience Four year college degree or five years related experience and/or training in lending; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Credit Union lending experience is very beneficial to the success of this position. Training/Educational Responsibilities Will attend all required regulatory training sessions conducted internally or externally, to include but not limited to: BSA/OFAC; CTR & SAR; I.T. Security, Ability to qualify for an NMLS unique identifier. Supervisory Responsibilities Ensures high quality work and efficiency in operations are maintained. Determines work methods and flow through assigning, directing, coordinating and reviewing tasks. Ensures that Lending associates are well trained in all phases of their respective jobs. Completes orientation of new employees in overall Lending procedures. Performs cross training as necessary. Maintain a highly motivated well trained team by tailoring specific goals for all lending associates based on specific skill sets and talent. Makes recommendations to management for improvements that create efficiencies in the Credit Union. Facilitates development and training needs to include performance appraisals, corrective action, merit recommendations and promotions as needed.
3 Implement new programs and coordinate with other departments. Other duties as assigned. Travel Requirements Position requires a valid state driver s license. Travel to other branches and all regions will be required and expected on a regular basis. Physical Requirements: This position does require walking up and down two flights of stairs to research accounts or interface with other departments. The position also requires extensive manual dexterity due to the large amount of time spent working with computers and office equipment (10-key, computer, phone, copier, scanner, fax etc) as well as files. Long periods of sitting are required. Ability to focus for long periods of time. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of associates, managers, Board of Directors, Audit Committee, Auditors and Examiners, members and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of financial institution software.
