Their excited, motivated and looking to be challenged and to contribute. On-boarding a new Employee What We Don t Want To Happen (De-motivators and other Horror Stories ) Supervisor has a meeting first thing No time to meet the employee or introduce them to the group No work space assigned Reading Safety Manuals/SOP for 8 hours strait Job-shadowing someone who didn t plan for it and isn t too happy about it 2
3 Where to Start Start Before the New Employee s First Day What information does everyone in the group need to know What information does the person in this role need to know Generate a Plan that Considers WHAT Information Needs to be Communicated, by WHEN (as important as what) and by WHO Safety Regulations Expectations and Rules SOPs Training Mentoring 3
