1 Employee Relations Advisory Organization and the Representatives'Role Mike Herbstritt Julie Monday Employee Relations Advisory Organization Session Overview: Review purpose and function of the Employee Relations Advisory Organization (ERAO) To understand the role of the representative in the ERAO Review purpose and objective of the Disciplinary Action Process To understand the role of the representative in the Disciplinary Action Process ployee Relations Advisory Organization < The ERAO exists to: Provide for a direct channel of communications between regular staff non-exempt employees and university officials for information and advisory purposes Provide university officials with an effective method of soliciting and disseminating information concerning plans and programs affecting regular staff non-exempt university employees. 2 to Employee Relations Committee A committee exists for each major management level and represents a significant number of employees. A committee serves as an advisory body to the chief/senior administrator with respect to matters and conditions affecting employees. Employee Relations ill \l KilJ IMIJ tifi III rff H til i I ' Employee Relations Committee A committee consists of:» Senior administrator or designee who serves as the chair - Representative(s)from Human Resources staff each committee * Elected employee representatives from each unit, geographical location, and/or job group iployee Relations Advisory Organization To be elected as a representative, an employee must: Have at leave one year of service - Be in a non-supervisory position Be a regular full-time employee (Part-time employee representative excluded) Be accessible to the represented employees
