3 Killeen Independent School District Job Description Job Title: Department: Reports To: FLSA Status: Behavior Management Aide II Education Services School Principal, Director of Special Education, and/or Assigned Teacher(s) Non-exempt SUMMARY Assists in Behavior Management or Therapeutic Learning Class. Maintains an environment conducive to learning. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities. Assists the teacher in the consistent implementation of the Behavior Intervention Plan. Operates and cares for equipment and instructional material assigned by the teacher. Helps students master equipment and instructional material assigned by the teacher. Distributes and collects papers and other materials for instruction. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips. Keeps bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays up-to-date. Accompanies and manages behavior of students who are assigned to mainstream classes (P.E., music, etc.), when assigned by the teacher. Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and social skills instruction. Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students. Assists students in the library or media center. Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher. Checks and records student attendance and other daily record keeping tasks. Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the teacher. Attends after-school meetings/training sessions as required by program guidelines. Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the special education teacher or principal. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities; however, the behavioral management aide works closely with students, faculty, and volunteers. 1

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Maintains a clean clinic per protocol. Requests supplies, as needed. Organizes and stocks supplies upon delivery. Administers first aid/cpr per Red Cross/KISD guidelines. Notifies parents of illness or injury. Notifies principal, school nurse, and teacher(s) of any serious illness, new medical condition, or problem. Stores and administers medication per KISD policy. Maintains daily record of students seen in the clinic and other records delegated by the school nurse. Assists in filling out accident/incident reports; distributes copies per KISD guidelines, and notifies school nurse. Performs initial hearing and vision tests on new students and notifies school nurse of follow-up evaluation, if needed. Enters student health and immunization data into the computer as requested by the school nurse. Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the school nurse or principal. 7 Killeen Independent School District Job Description Job Title: Computer Aide II Department: Education Services Reports To: School Principal and/or Assigned Teacher(s) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt SUMMARY Assists the campus staff in maintaining the computer lab. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Maintains, operates, and services all hardware and software in the computer lab. Helps tutor students on the computer during the school day. Assists in special areas such as Title I, at-risk students, etc., where applicable. Troubleshoots classroom printers and computers. Provides school personnel with information pertaining to the computer equipment and/or programs. Consults with the Campus Technologist about ordering supplies for the computer lab. Installs software, as needed. Selects and prepares software for use in advance of each day s schedule, under the Campus Technologist s supervision. Assists the Campus technologist in maintaining an inventory and file of all available software. Helps manage and schedule students for computer time in classes as well as for remediation, enrichment, and campus projects, including tutoring or catch-up time. Assists teachers and students with proper handling of equipment. Performs other such tasks as may be assigned by the Campus technologist or Principal. 9 Killeen Independent School District Job Description Job Title: Department: Reports To: FLSA Status: Deaf Education Interpreter III Learning Services School Principal, Director of Special Education, Coordinator for Deaf Education, and/or Assigned Teacher(s) Non-exempt SUMMARY Facilitates communication between the deaf student, teachers, other service providers, and peers, and acts as tutor for deaf students. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Provides expressive and voice interpreting services for deaf students in the communication mode prescribed and acts as language model for students. Relates all class activities to the deaf student and assists in providing orientation to deafness for mainstream staff and students. Interprets assemblies, club meetings, special activities such as graduation exercises, teacher and principal conferences, and other special events as extra-curriculum activities necessary during the regular school day. Provides the instruction for sign language classes. Conducts individual instruction as directed by the supervisor of the deaf education program and/or classroom teacher, time permitting, away from mainstream classes. Assists in evaluating student progress according to the criteria and procedures outlined by the teacher. Informs teacher(s) and other appropriate staff members of any problems or special information about individual students, including communication skills and language mode of each student. Serves as the chief source for information and help to a substitute teacher. 11 Killeen Independent School District Job Description Job Title: Department: Reports To: FLSA Status: Early Childhood Assessment Team Aide II Special Education Special Education Supervisory Staff Non-exempt SUMMARY Performs clerical/office and assessment support duties for the Early Childhood Assessment Team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Acts as the initial contact between the family and the school district Obtains information from the family about the primary concerns of their child s development Mails screening information packet to parents and follow up with families Schedules 120-day face-to-face meetings for children receiving Early Childhood Intervention Schedules initial pre-assessment meetings and when necessary, transdisciplinary play-based assessments (TPBA) Notifies necessary personnel of assessment dates and times Notifies the diagnosticians, speech pathologists and when necessary, PPCD teachers of receiving school once a child is recommended for placement so that ARDs (Academic Review and Dismissal) can be scheduled within appropriate timelines Participates in screening and TPBA assessments acting as a play facilitator, videotaping and/ or writing observational notes Screens vision and hearing of each child prior to TPBA if the child has not had a recent hearing and vision screening by a doctor Assists with technology, such as video taping during the assessment and insuring that each folder has a photo of the child Completes all necessary clerical work on a daily basis Assists in compiling information for TPBA Resource Bank Organizes student s folder prior to delivery to receiving school Delivers folders to receiving school upon completion of TPBA Attends additional trainings related to Early Childhood Assessment and Intervention topics Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by supervisory special education staff.
