2 CITY & GUILDS APPRENTICESHIPS Apprenticeships that deliver the skills employers and apprentices value and respect 3 City & Guilds is the largest apprenticeship awarding organisation in the country. We provide over 300 apprenticeships, including more than 40 single point registration packages, covering a wide range of industry sectors and a growing range of levels. 3 The qualifications that make up our apprenticeships result from working closely with training centres, employers and industry bodies to develop the right skills to help learners progress into and through employment. 3 Our apprenticeships are developed to help you deliver the best possible training programmes. They are rigorously assessed and verified by our team of dedicated and highly trained experts and supported by a wide range of resources. Customers rate the support our qualification consultants provide 8 of 10 in terms of quality of advice and guidance*. 3 This will give you total confidence when engaging employers and potential apprentices that your apprenticeships will develop the skills apprentices need to succeed in their chosen careers. New! Higher level apprenticeships from City & Guilds To improve progression routes and to provide individuals with the skills to satisfy the growing needs of employers, City & Guilds is introducing Higher Level Apprenticeships (HLAs), available in Business and Administration, Hospitality, ICT, Social Care and Engineering. 3 Meeting employer needs These HLAs will enable City & Guilds approved centres to provide training programmes for employers who wish to develop the skills of their staff to a higher level. 3 Providing progression These HLAs will provide progression routes for individuals wanting to continue work-based technical training beyond level 3 and who have the opportunity to move into higher level work-based technical training, management training or Higher Education degrees. 3 Developed corroboratively HLAs have been developed in collaboration with training centres, employers and industry bodies. City & Guilds are at the forefront of producing and developing a higher level apprenticeship curriculum offer which is rigorous and modern. I particularly admire their willingness to engage on an ongoing basis with practitioners and employers to constantly ensure their product is relevant to today s world of business. 3 The City & Guilds Advantage 3 Expert input All our HLAs are created in collaboration with training centres, employers and industry bodies to meet current industry requirements. 3 Modular units Where the industry frameworks allow, the qualifications within our HLAs have been developed with larger module style units. This is in response to requests from providers for a better fit with Higher Education and a more in-depth learning experience for the apprentice. 3 Management tools Our HLAs include management training, so as well as learning advanced technical skills, apprentices will pick up work place management tools and techniques. 3 Leadership For those looking to focus on their leadership development, we offer specialist management apprenticeship packages at Levels 3 and 5 through the Institute of Leadership & Management (see page 11). Higher Level Apprenticeship packages Our HLAs are offered as packages and this means you can purchase all the apprenticeship qualifications through us. 3 Simpler than buying individual qualifications. 3 You benefit from the unique City & Guilds combination of experience, reputation and strong employer recognition. Support to help your apprentices succeed To support the delivery of our HLAs, we run a range of quality improvement events to aid assessors and verifiers, helping them manage your quality assurance to the highest standard. We have also developed a programme of tutor, assessor and learner resources, which allow you to spend more time tutoring your apprentice, leading to better success rates and satisfied employers: Smartscreen Workshops, lesson plans, schemes of work and sample worksheets. Ongoing useful tips and hints on making the apprentice s programme more relevant and engaging. Learning Assistant Allows apprentices to complete units faster and assessors to manage more apprentices. Extra help for you City & Guilds continues to raise awareness of the benefits of work based training to both employers and learners through its Million Extra campaign and other profile raising activity. This is bound to have a positive knock-on effect for all City & Guilds approved centres. City & Guilds are widely perceived amongst employers as the leaders in developing qualifications around employers requirements for skills and are the highest standard of industry qualifications. Working with City & Guilds provides our customers and candidates with confidence in our provision. 6 leadership and management apprenticeships Through our sister organisation, the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM), we offer a range of apprenticeships that enable businesses to effectively develop their next generation of leaders and managers. 3 ILM Intermediate and Foundation Apprenticeships in Team Leading (Level 2) 3 ILM Advanced Apprenticeship in Management (Level 3) 3 ILM Higher Apprenticeship in Management (Level 5) SUPPORT AVAILABLE All apprentices receive free ILM studying membership for the duration of their programme. This gives them access to a wide range of online resources, news and information. Funding details All our apprenticeship packages are registered with the National Apprenticeships Service (NAS) and eligible for varying amounts of public funding and incentives for delivery. Details at Funding There is a general expectation that employers will contribute to funding employees on HLAs. This is based on the assumption that higher level apprentices will bring a tangible return on investment to their business. Having said this, the following currently applies: 3 Level 4 learners aged under 24 will be eligible for some co-funding depending on the qualification and the level achieved by the learner previously. 3 Level 4 learners aged over 24 will be self-funded but will have access to the 24+ Advanced Learning Loans, once they are introduced in April Learners at level 5 and above (all ages) are funded through either the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) or the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) and the HE or FE student loans systems where appropriate.
