We exist to deliver reliable, high-quality water, wastewater and waste recovery services to ensure the economy and liveability of the central Gippsland region. Our service area is diverse in area and needs, from the fast growing region in the west, to the transitioning challenges of the Latrobe Valley to providing water and wastewater services to Victoria s largest industrial water users.

2 There has been significant change throughout the Gippsland region, in particular, the closure of major businesses. While this changing landscape presents many challenges to Gippsland Water, it also highlights the importance of the role Gippsland Water plays in the region, and the role we play in the region s transition. Gippsland Water will continue to focus on: maintaining quality water and wastewater services for our customers at an affordable price our sustainable future and the future of the region, and the role we play in the future. To enable the corporation to meet these needs Gippsland Water has introduced a new approach and strategy that better reflects the needs of our communities and positions the organisation to deliver sustainable environmental and financial outcomes. Gippsland Water engages an inclusive and diverse workforce of around 270 employees across six departments and prides itself on achieving a work-life balance for all employees, allowing us to deliver on the strategic priority of having the right people in the right jobs. This position, therefore, provides the opportunity for flexible working arrangements, including a part time arrangement. 3 ORGANISATION STRUCTURE Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager People & Culture has 2 direct reports and a department of approximately 9 employees.

3 4 POSITION INFORMATION Purpose The General Manager People & Culture is an inspiring Human Resource executive role to lead the organisation in building a leading employee experience and value proposition. As a human resources transformational change leader and senior business professional with deep organizational development and safety expertise you will be an influential part of our committed executive, focused upon positively shaping our organisation into the future, and providing robust and contemporary advice. You will have a proven track record of leading transformational change, and be inspired by what can be achieved through an engaged and skillful workforce whose wellbeing is central to the way we do business. To be successful in this role you will have proven capability to operate successfully at a strategic human resource level the ability to drive, implement and embed change build and maintain an enabling, agile and safety focused culture across our organisation, and implement contemporary human resources framework and resource policy You will have expertise and passion for developing and delivering an integrated people strategy that includes innovative leadership development talent management and succession planning diversity and inclusion safety & wellbeing performance development organisation culture employee engagement strategic workforce planning customer service excellence training and development Gippsland Water is proud of our people, their capability and what we deliver to our customers every day. 4 To be successful in this role you will have the proven ability to ensure our people are highly engaged, effective in their roles, accountable for delivery, and go home safe. Key Responsibilities You will lead a small team of dedicated people responsible for Occupational Health & Safety Organisational Development Human Resource Management Industrial Relations including Enterprise Agreement negotiations WorkCover Return to work Payroll Culture Training & development This position is directly accountable for the development of an integrated people strategy and the delivery of our safety strategy. 5 REQUIRED CAPABILITY To be successful this role requires senior human resource and safety leadership experience with advanced problem-solving and decision making skills, and strong positive influencing skills. An inspiring leadership style that aligns with Gippsland Water s vision and values, that is naturally collaborative, is essential to the successful performance of this role. Expertise in the following areas would be beneficial to the performance of this role: Talent management, Innovative leadership development Developing and implementing a culture strategy Developing a contemporary HR framework Acquiring, engaging and retaining our talent Preferred Qualifications A tertiary qualification is essential in Commerce, Business, Management, Law or other relevant discipline. An MBA or other relevant post-graduate qualification would be well regarded.

5 6 SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Substantial experience across a range of management areas at senior executive level, including exposure to commercial/business entities and government organisations, with particular experience in people initiatives and driving a safety culture 2. Extensive knowledge and experience in the following areas: Occupational health and safety leadership WorkCover Return to Work Improving employee wellbeing Culture change Human resource management Industrial relations Talent management and leadership development Organisational development Payroll with experience in achieving and exceeding contemporary best practices in these areas 3. Proven ability to successfully implement process improvements, revise organisational policy settings, and implement new technological solutions. The ability to develop strategy, and contribute to strategic planning and business planning would be well regarded 4. Excellent consultative and communication style which encourages collaboration and innovation in others, coupled with a high degree of diplomacy and integrity, and outstanding negotiation and influencing skills 5. A passion for developing an enabled and engaged workforce that translates into tangible outcomes for our people
