3 About Knowsley Community College Knowsley Community College is an innovative and dynamic Further Education College based in the Liverpool region. Our track record of high quality education and training from our two main campuses, as well as our partner and employer locations, makes us the bustling hub of learning and employment in the area. The College currently has about 4000 student s enrolments each year and approximately 260 teaching and support staff. The range of courses extends from Pre-Entry, GCSEs, A Levels, Diplomas and NVQs to Higher Education and professional qualifications. The College also operates in the community and on employers premises as well as providing part-time and evening course provision. The College remains one of the largest providers of Apprenticeships in Merseyside, and through its Employer Engagement Unit, responds proactively to the needs of employers across the region addressing the workforce development agenda. The College has extended the range of support available to adults who are unemployed and has established an innovative new service called WorkWorld operating from premises in Kirkby and deliver specialist courses in conjunction with JobCentre Plus and local employers. Located within walking distance of the College s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Technology at Princess Drive, the college will include state of the art facilities and equipment, industry standard commercial kitchens and an attractive terrace garden restaurant, multi-use games pitches, The Lee Stafford Hair Academy, a brand new home for 99.8FM KCC Live and much more. Significant experience of working with complex databases is required, including the ability to write reports using SQL, views and SSRS. The post holder will also provide software support for the Compass suite of MIS products. RESPONSIBLE TO: Data Services Manager OTHER RELATIONSHIPS: Senior Leadership Team Directors Heads of Faculty MAIN ACTIVITIES: MIS: 1. Development and design of reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) 2. Use Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to query data from a range of MIS databases 3. Ensure that data is readily available to College staff in a variety of formats 4. Work with College staff to enable them to clarify and define their information needs, ensuring that specifications for development provide the required solution. 5. Monitor the quality and accuracy of data to meet the College s reporting requirements 6. Liaise with the Data Services Manager to review the procedures for the department 7. Create and maintain documentation and training guides for software and reports used within the College 8. Experience of working with complex relational databases Extensive experience of Microsoft SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) Experience of working in an FE environment. Experience of the Compass suite of MIS products, including: ProSolution, ProMonitor and ProAchieve Skills: Ability to extract data from databases using SQL queries Ability to use Visual Studio as a tool to develop reports Ability to be clear and concise on technical and conceptual issues. Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to develop training materials Other: Good time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
