3 Background Information Excellence Ensemble Welcoming Passionate about music Excellence Liverpool Philharmonic was founded in 1840 by a group of Liverpool music-lovers. Today, we present a distinctive, diverse live music programme of over 400 concerts and events of the highest quality every year at our home, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, other venues in our City, across the UK and internationally. Our programme features the best in classical, chamber, contemporary, rock, pop, folk, roots and jazz music, comedy, film and spoken word in the main Hall, and in our smaller scale Music Room. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra performs at least 70 concerts each year in Liverpool, and close to 100 annually across the UK and internationally, working with many of the world s finest artists and musicians. We deliver an extensive learning and education programme which is acknowledged nationally and internationally as a leader in its field. Ensemble Our musicians in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and ensembles drawn from it, are at the heart of everything we do. Since 2006, the Orchestra has developed an internationally acclaimed musical partnership with our Chief Conductor, Vasily Petrenko, for their concerts, broadcasts and recordings, and through collaborations with other major artists. 4 Job Description Title: Reports to: Location: Contract: Salary: Marketing Assistant Head of Marketing The normal place of work is Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, or any reasonable location dependent upon the requirements of the post. Full time (35 hours per week) 16,500-18,500, depending on experience Principal Role To support the Marketing Team with the administration and delivery of the marketing plan, promotion of concerts and events at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and Music Room, and raising the profile of the organisation, venues and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Key Responsibilities Managing customer communications to ensure that all audience members receive timely information regarding performances, including changes/cancellations and monitoring waiting lists Working with internal colleagues and external promoters to collate images, copy and digital materials to put performances on sale Delivering customer surveys and reporting on findings Monitoring and responding to customer comments and feedback via the Customer Services channels and social media Poster and leaflet distribution and display front of house and in Music Room High quality copywriting for a range of channels, both online and offline Supporting Marketing Team with print campaigns, including: compiling content, proof reading, sourcing suppliers and gathering quotations, liaising with mailing houses and distributors Creating content and campaigns, including esolus and enews communications Supporting the Marketing Team to ensure the website is up to date Managing exit leafleting as required Maintaining the digital screen schedule Maintaining and managing a library of digital collateral (images and video) Managing merchandise including CD stocks and sales Managing charity/raffle ticket requests and competition winner ticketing and prizes Managing relationships with suppliers
5 Attending events as required, and at least once a month, to engage with audiences and support any planned marketing activity Any other such reasonable duties which are commensurate with this role To ensure that all work is informed by and reflects the Company s core values Passionate about Music, Excellence, Ensemble and Welcoming Also works with: Head of Communications Marketing Manager Digital Marketing Manager Marketing Officer Publications Officer Person Specification Experience Required Experience of managing multiple projects to demanding deadlines Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Experience of working in a customer driven environment Prior experience of working in a marketing / communications role is desirable Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Knowledge of the arts, culture and media industries is desirable Proven administrative skills Strong IT skills, particularly in using Content Management Systems, Microsoft Office and Social media for marketing purposes, as well confidence in learning to use new tools Ability to work in a logical, organised manner with a high level of attention to detail Ability to work under own initiative Excellent interpersonal skills Knowledge of using Box Office systems for CRM is desirable but not essential Knowledge of MailChimp is desirable but not essential Personal Style and Behaviour Passion for live music and performance Confident and outgoing nature Commitment to working as a team and supporting colleagues
6 Conditions of Employment Salary The salary for this post is 16,500 18,500 Probation The probation period for this post is six months Performance Appraisal Objectives for the post holder will be set annually by the Head of Marketing and performance will be appraised on an annual basis. Hours of work The contracted hours for this post are 35 hours per week. Normal office hours are Monday Friday, 9.30am to 5.30pm however the post holder will be required undertake regular evening and weekend work. You may be required to work over and above these normal working hours depending on the Liverpool Philharmonic's business requirements from time to time. Overtime is not payable, however time in lieu is available. Holidays The annual leave entitlement is 26 days (pro rata), excluding public holidays. These will be taken at times agreed with the Head of Marketing. Pension Liverpool Philharmonic operates a Group Personal Pension Scheme whereby employees can elect to join end enjoy employer contributions. In accordance with the Pension Act all qualifying employees will be auto enrolled into the Group Personal Pension scheme. Sickness Payments Liverpool Philharmonic has a sickness absence policy and payments during sickness absence will be made in accordance with the policy. Details of the policy are available on request. Car Allowance A car allowance will be paid in respect of approved business journeys. The allowance is currently 40 pence per mile. Other expenses Other expenses necessarily incurred arising from the performance of duties of the job will be paid, subject to clearance by the relevant line manager.
7 Whole Time Service During your employment with Liverpool Philharmonic, you must not, without written consent from the Chief Executive, undertake any outside work, paid or unpaid. Work of a literary or artistic nature is excluded from this condition, provided it does not create a potential conflict of interest. Period of Notice The notice period for the termination of the contract of employment will be 1 calendar month.
