1 Title: Location: CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation) Service Manager Safe Hands Calderdale Silver Street Halifax West Yorkshire HX1 1JN Reward band: Reporting to: Job purpose: SFN - SGN Programme Manager To manage and oversee the services in Yorkshire that work with young people at risk of sexual exploitation reporting to the Programme Manager. This role will co-ordinate and take a lead role around CSE within Yorkshire and Newcastle, ensuring a multi-agency response, acting as a single point of contact for referrals from Calderdale and Halifax, Social Care and other relevant organisations, support the capacity and development of CSE services within the County. The role will oversee the Team Leaders in Calderdale and Keighley, ensuring they receive high quality support and supervision acting as a conduit where necessary. Key activities: To oversee the delivery and development of CSE services in accordance with current legislation and safe practice. To manage and support a team within the Society s performance management procedures, (including recruitment, training, case management and regular supervision). To develop and deliver training for professionals and disseminate models of good practice for working with vulnerable young people.

2 To develop and implement monitoring and evaluation systems in line with agreed targets. To develop and contribute to funding strategies and growth plans Monitor project expenditure in line with approved guidelines To develop models of practice and participation that enable children and young people to be involved in the work of the service and The Children s Society. To build and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally To contribute effectively to multi-agency working across Halifax and Calderdale. To engage with children, young people and families to create links and support participation in the evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions being carried out by the University of Bedfordshire. Attainments: In order to be considered for this post you will have to demonstrate that you already have: Experience Substantial experience of working with vulnerable young people at risk. Substantial experience of multi-agency working/partnership working. Managing multiple services. Managing, leading and supporting individuals and teams who are dealing with complex and sensitive issues. Service development and project management including managing budgets. Improving and developing models of practice. Engaging, listening, sharing and using young people s views to shape services that they receive. Monitoring and evaluating work and producing written reports of a high standard. Qualifications A relevant professional qualification such as Social Work or another qualification associated with the area of work. Work based knowledge Understanding of issues that affect vulnerable young

3 people, (including those who run away, those who have been sexually exploited and those involved in serious youth violence). An in-depth knowledge of relevant children and young people s legislation in relation to vulnerable children and young people; including safeguarding and child protection. Effective methods of working with vulnerable young people. Understanding of your own and different management and learning styles. Skills Problem solving Influencing and challenging decision makers internally and externally Listening to staff Setting clear goals and empowering staff Time management Facilitation skills Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, including report writing. IT skills in adapting to new software and applications (The Children s Society mostly uses Microsoft Office applications).
