1 Dear Applicant: EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION CAMDEN POLICE DEPARTMENT The Camden Police Department seeks self-motivated and energetic individuals who possess a strong desire to serve the citizens of Camden as a professional law enfcement officer. In der to obtain qualified persons, a rigous application process is in place designed to elicit an individual s strengths and suitability f employment. I invite each potential applicant to review our process and encourage you to contact our training staff f questions. Floyd Chief of Police * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Phase One Applications f employment will be screened to determine if an individual meets minimum hiring standards set fth by the City of Camden and The South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. In addition, a criminal and ten-year driver histy check will be completed. Those applicants meeting minimum requirements will advance to Phase Two. Phase Two Prospective candidates will be scheduled f a pre-employment polygraph examination. Those candidates who successfully complete the interview will advance to Phase Three. Phase Three Applicants will participate in an al review board conducted by members of this department. This process is designed to promote a question and answer period where the applicant can demonstrate his her ability to effectively communicate in a professional setting and an opptunity to offer his her best attributes f potential employment. Those applicants who are selected will advance to Phase Four as a prospective candidate f employment. Phase Four Prospective candidates will be tested using a nationally recognized written examination to determine their potential to successfully complete the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy f law enfcement certification. Prospective candidates who pass the written examination will advance to Phase Five. Phase Five Prospective candidates will be required to pass a physical fitness test to determine their potential to successfully pass the standards as set fth f law enfcement certification through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. (The test can be reviewed at the SCCJA website.) Candidates who pass the fitness test will advance to Phase Six. Phase Six A member of this department will conduct a though and detailed background investigation to determine the candidate s suitability f employment. A successful investigation will place the candidate into a potential hiring pool, which will qualify him her f a final interview and potential hiring conducted by the Chief of Police. The candidate will remain in this potential hiring pool f a period of six months after which, the candidate will be required to re-apply and complete the employment process. Exemptions An applicant who possesses a current law enfcement certification through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy will be exempt from phases three and four. An applicant who possesses a current law enfcement certification from another state may be exempt from phases three and four dependant upon examination. Disclaimer The Chief of Police reserves the right to suspend any ption of this process and hire qualified individuals when such a need arises and is deemed to be in the best interest of the department and the City of Camden. This disclaimer is set fth as an unusual exception and as such, applicants can expect to complete the nmal hiring process as outlined.
