1 AGENDA 6 th ANNUAL OCM SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS CONFERENCE FOUR SEASONS LAS VEGAS, NV Monday Session Title/Topic Speaker Sept 28 1:00 2:30 Optional Part 1 Basic Supervisory Committee and Board Responsibilities An Overview For both new and veteran volunteers, this session will cover the unique facets of the credit union industry and the basics of the Board and Committee structures, including qualifications, meetings, minutes, regulations, and more. We will discuss how you got there and what you do now. This is a must-attend workshop for new Board and Committee members as well as experienced volunteers that just want a refresher. OCM Panel 2:30 2:45 Break 2:45 4:30 Optional Part 2 Supervisory Committee and Board Responsibilities Hands On Workshop (a continuation of Part 1) Part 2 will explore the issues of the day with no subject off limits. Part way through this session, we will break into groups by asset size and discuss the unique challenges faced by you and your peers. Included in the discussions will be topics such as risk assessments, mergers, member verifications, auditor selection, internal audit structures, and any other challenging issues credit union volunteers face in fulfilling their role. Learn how to mine for those important nuggets of information that will help you know when and how to raise important questions about your credit union s financial statements. This interactive session is designed for non-financial volunteers and is intended to bring familiarity and dynamics to an otherwise complex area. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a model for identifying and prioritizing the major risk areas within your organization in order to address risk effectively. As Tony says, we take risks in order to continually evolve and innovate. 3 8:30 10:00 General Session 6 Smart, Gutsy Strategies Needed Now for Future Success The financial services industry and its environment are changing quickly, and it s clear that banks and credit unions using status quo strategies are not likely to prosper. In this session, Bob will draw on his extensive credit union experience and numerous studies and experiments by the Filene Research Institute and other organizations. Though credit union challenges are substantial, Bob s message is positive and upbeat. The session will provide practical information that will be useful for evaluating, revising, and possibly replacing your credit union s existing strategies and tactics. The involvement of third party originators, special contracts, and fee-based underwriting means added due diligence and continuous monitoring of the process. Join this session as the intricacies of indirect lending are covered from beginning to end.
