4 HABITS #1: Honor Commitments Developing and maintaining mutual trust is intrinsic to long-lasting relationships and successful end results. Personal accountability and honoring one s commitments are the keys to developing this kind of trust. There are three main considerations to make when accepting commitments and attempting to fulfill them: Acknowledge the full commitment: Know the level of dedication it will take and determine if you can follow through on expectations. Determine the consequences: Awareness of how fulfillment of this commitment will affect others is necessary as you accept it. 6 HABITS #2: Add Value Your daily goals should always include adding value to the world around you. Whether it s adding value as a professional in your industry or becoming a better person in life, being a positive influence should always be your intention. While there are multiple ways to add value to your world or organization, consider these as a foundation: Stay focused on the right tasks: Develop objectives and goals to maintain effort toward productive ends. Avoid distractions. Work autonomously: Work without close supervision and possess sound judgment to make decisions aligning with the organizational goals. Maintain a positive attitude: Make positive contributions to the organizational morale. Successful organizations have no room for persistent negativity. 8 HABITS #3: Be Adaptable The world is constantly changing, making global markets smaller and the world of opportunity greater. As this change seems to occur at an accelerated rate, the race that used to be won by the biggest company is now mastered by the fastest. Successful professionals face this rapidly evolving world with an equation that guarantees they will overcome obstacles: Challenge + Response = Success. In the equation, every response should align with Be Adaptable. Professionals must develop new responses in the face of obstacles and challenges. Being adaptable is essential. Being adaptable leads to new developments, innovations and creative ideas. It guides leaders to new technologies, advancements and exploration. 8 BE ADAPTABLE arvensegroup.com

10 HABITS #4: Innovate Innovation is a key to success. Dreaming, brainstorming and exploration of inspirations can lead to solutions and opportunities that spark economic growth, leverage new technologies or drive otherwise positive change. Innovation is often the response to necessity or the logical next step in a strategic plan. Dreaming big is encouraged: the real game changers are radical and develop ideas never conceived previously. Don t be afraid of a new idea, simply because it hasn t been done before. Innovation doesn t just mean new ways of manufacturing or development of a new product. It can be fresh perspectives in alliance creation or joint venturing. It can come about abruptly and bring significant change to an organization, or innovative methods can be implemented gradually to acclimate all involved. 10 INNOVATE arvensegroup.com

Collaboration of efforts, resources and knowledge makes everyone involved stronger and more prosperous. However, establishing and sustaining these relationships take effort. Here are some tips to keep in mind: Develop Relationships Listen and observe to discover your colleague s values and interests. Share your own objectives after learning about your peer s. Nurture Relationships Demonstrate respect. Exhibit common courtesy and consideration. Avoid prioritizing success and results over relationships. Relationships that make you and your company stronger can take your company to unparalleled levels of success. 14 HABITS #6: Show Transparency Effective communication is, often, a differentiating factor between success and failure. But, many professionals assume that their communication is effective, when it s actually counterproductive. What is the key element to effective communication in business? The ability to show transparency. Three components allow professionals to adeptly show transparency: Identify who you need to communicate with and target your message accordingly. Communicate clearly and concisely with informative messages containing pertinent details. Align your expectations with your audience by defining what you desire from them. When individuals understand your intentions and the information you are presenting, there is less room for confusion and doubt.
