1 A SURVEY 1 ON THE ROLE AND OPERATION OF NATIONAL METEOROLOGICAL AND HYDROLOGICAL SERVICES This Questionnaire was developed in response to the decisions of the WMO Executive Council, which at its sixtieth session in June 2008 noted that in order for the WMO Secretariat to have information to develop programmes in support of activities of NMHSs, the Secretariat must have comprehensive information on the Members situations and the key challenges facing them. A routine and systematic use of a comprehensive questionnaire would allow the tracking of the needs and status of the NMHSs and would reduce the number of questionnaires sent to the Members.
