1 Executive Director Job Description Job Title: Reports to: Status: Compensation: Closing Date: Executive Director Board of Directors Full-time, salaried exempt Salary range: $50,000 $70,000. Salary depends on experience. Excellent benefit package. Friday, April 7 th by 5pm The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership and vision of Door to Grace, and leads the implementation of strategic business goals for fundraising, programs, services, administration and staff. The Executive Director champions the mission and aligns organizational performance strategies with sustainability and growth. The Executive Director is responsible for Door to Grace s administration of the Board of Directors directives and professional standards. This is a full-time position. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILIITIES Financial Management/Sustainability Develops funding strategies that support and expand operations and generate new revenue. Approximately half of the ED s time and efforts will be devoted to raising funds to supplement existing fundraising activities for the operations and programs of Door to Grace. This includes overseeing fundraising activities (including the Key2Free Auction, individual, foundation, corporation, event, sponsorship) and ensuring annual funding goals are achieved. Plans and executes program marketing strategies to attract private and public funders. Assesses program development and provides leadership in service expansion opportunities through speaking, writing and grant preparation Oversees financial management including annual budget planning and development, fund allocation, investments and revenue management.

2 Ensures proper accounting controls and practices are followed and in compliance with federal rules. Monitors budget priorities and creates strategies for cost containment and reduction. Regularly reports financial status to the Board of Directors. Strategic Planning Assists the Board of Directors in establishing the vision for growth and sustainability and setting measurable goals to achieve performance outcomes. Collaborates with the Board of Directors regarding operational policy and procedure development and long-range planning. Produces the business plan framework and ensures operational performance priorities are detailed and clearly described. Investigates other organizations for best practice concepts and ways to build resources for capacity growth. Program Implementation It is critical that programs continue to be consistent with the mission of Door to Grace; i.e. bringing a sense of loving family to exploited children. Coordinates the development and implementation of the Door to Grace strategic plan including fiscal, donor development, service delivery, marketing, and public relations objectives. Ensures program objectives are met and are consistent with business goals. Ensures programs are clearly articulated and responding to the needs of community stakeholders. Ensures programs are regularly evaluated and measured against established goals. Ensures the organization implements proper data collection to quantitatively measure and accurately report success indicators. Board Governance Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with the Board of Directors and provides on-going communication related to program priorities, financial status, resource development and strategic planning.

3 Actively participates in Board development and ensures governance is consistent with by-laws and policies. Participates in Board recruitment and provides input regarding professional diversity which reflects community constituents. Leads Board engagement and builds strategies for resource leverage. Supports Board committees and provides leadership and resources to achieve effective performance. Leadership Drives the organization s mission and ensures strategic business goals and priorities are achieved. Models standards for excellence in all segments of responsibility and sets the example for linking achievement with mission impact. Assumes responsibility for development and enhancement of positive relationships with contractors, referral sources, funders, other agencies, courts, churches and media. Staff Management Leads and equips Door to Grace s staff and volunteers with a Christcentered culture exemplary of the Door to Grace Statement of Faith and organizational values. Recruits, hires, supervises and develops staff. Defines staff roles and responsibilities, lines of authority and workloads to effectively provide quality service delivery consistent with work demands, agency standards and licensing requirements. Develops clear performance goals and systems to measure achievement and success. Ensures that each employee or volunteer does not jeopardize the health, safety or welfare of the clients served by Door to Grace Terminates from employment any staff member who is unsuitable or who performs in an unsatisfactory manner. Ensures the delivery of quality services consistent with Door to Grace's standards of practice and policies and procedures.

4 Remains appraised concerning child welfare issues, legislative trends and practices through systematic review of professional literature and networking with state service units and private organizations. Ensures performance feedback and evaluations are performed on a regular basis. Creates a positive work culture that encourages transparency, learning and high performance. Marketing and Communication Provides on-going communication with the Board of Directors and provides up-to-date status reports. Regularly communicates with staff keeping them informed of programmatic decisions, policies and priorities and ensures information is shared appropriately within departments. Ensures communication strategies are implemented to promote program deliverables and resources and to reach a broad network of stakeholders using current technologies (i.e., internet, social media, etc.) Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred in mental health related fields, business or education; plus two years related experience in fundraising preferably within a faith-based non-profit Must have direct experience in resource development and proven success at fundraising and donor cultivation. Knowledge of the requirements for providing care and treatment to abuse victims. Ability to maintain records on children and families, as well as personnel Problem-solving skills, particularly in emergency situations. Experience working in or with faith-based non-profit organizations. Experience working in and building rapport with communities of color. Understanding of health equity, racial justice and the social determinants of health

5 Experience working with a Board of Directors, with effective skills interfacing and engaging with a Board of Directors. Experience with budget planning, development and fund allocation compliance. Must have excellent staff management skills and ability to build highperforming work teams through coaching and professional development. Confident public speaking skills with ability to effectively promote advocacy and influence engagement. Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships with people of diverse educational, economic, social, political and cultural backgrounds. Ability to write effectively with specific skills creating business plan, annual report and program evaluation documents. Ability to utilize basic computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Health sufficient to carry out the duties of the position No history of conduct indicating it may be unsafe to allow the candidate to supervise the care of children, including but not limited to, successful completion of Oregon Criminal Background check. Professional and character references to demonstrate good moral character including honesty, fairness and respect for the rights of others. Must be a passionate service-driven leader with sound independent judgment and decision-making ability. Qualifications, Preferred: Experience in coordinating professional services. Experience in youth services, homeless services, youth of color or related social services. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this Job, the executive director is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak and hear. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. The employee

Travel The executive director must be able to travel to attend conferences, training and other events as required to acquire and maintain proficiency in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position. Work Environment The work environment is an office located in NE Portland, Oregon. This location could change in the near future (i.e. in the next 9-18 months).
