1 POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Career Navigator - Transition of Adults to Careers CATEGORY: Professional FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt GRADE: D JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the coordination, development, and implementation of outreach and recruitment activities for the Transition of Adults to Careers (TAC) project to include case management for academic persistence and success, and referrals to appropriate support services available at community agencies or within the College system. Develop recruitment and marketing strategies in collaboration with EPCC credit and non-credit departments and community agencies. Ensure project is in compliance with Far West Adult Education Consortium (FWAEC) and College requirements. Program Description Transition of Adults to Careers (TAC) project is an initiative which seeks to change the way Adult Basic Education is delivered by addressing barriers preventing adults from entering and completing postsecondary education. This project will help support the primary function of providing direct student support and guidance, as well as coordinating campus and community support services. TAC plays an integral role in fostering student persistence and success through direct guidance and coordination of campus and community based services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Prepare and conduct student information sessions and one-on-one student interviews; provide career research and planning, assessments and intakes; provide direct student support, and case management; assist students with completing necessary college forms; coordinate services with relevant college departments for further student assistance; provide referrals to appropriate community services when needed to include child care, transportation, and counseling; work in collaboration with partner agencies to identify resources necessary to help support student success in the TAC project. 2. Work with students who are professionals from other countries in need of career guidance in the United States and verify foreign degrees have been translated by an acceptable accredited agency; monitor student progress and meet with students regarding academic progress and help address barriers that impede success in the TAC project. 3. Develop student recruitment and marketing materials for TAC project; work with Project Manager on short and long term goals, recommend processes, policies and procedures to develop and grow the TAC project; coordinate and implement outreach and recruitment strategies for integrated campus and community service providers; expand and strengthen connections with partnerships such as the Far West Adult Education Consortium (FWAEC), Workforce Solutions Borderplex, other EPCC credit and non-credit departments, and community agencies keeping student recruitment the focus for these institutions. 2 adult education and workforce programs on campus and in the community; assist in expanding network of campus and community service providers to include employers and business organizations in the targeted career pathway industry sector; comply with FWAEC and College policies and procedures. 5. Review and update training program list; communicate and coordinate activities with other Navigators involved with FWAEC; track TAC project student attendance, progress, and conduct follow-ups; coordinate and make presentations and conduct workshops that supplement and support instructional curriculum. 6. Participate in professional development workshops required by FWAEC; attend trainings, department and community meetings; acknowledge and support the College s Mission and objectives. 7. Perform other duties as assigned. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Project Manager - Transition of Adults to Careers (TAC) ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor s Degree EPERIENCE: Six (6) years related experience. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Must have a valid driver s license and be insurable by the district s auto liability insurance carrier; must be able to travel to various work locations using own transportation. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Effective skills in writing, editing, proofreading, oral and written communication; Experience working with special populations, displaced workers, disabled students, international students, and students whose second language is English; Knowledge of campus resources, processes, and departments such as admissions, financial aid, placement testing and registration, disability services for referral purposes; Experience with case management; Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the institution to include faculty, counselors, academic advisors, and administrators; Proficient using computers to include Microsoft office products, web based products, databases, etc.; Experience working with federal, state, and college policies related to higher education; Networking, outreach and team building skills; Effective organizational skills and attention to detail; Proficient bilingual skills in English and Spanish; Effective presentation skills; Experience and ability to work in a diverse environment and be sensitive to issues of diversity and inclusion. 2.
