2 By Summer University Actions Develop summer boot camp for May/June for all undergrads Recruit a Head of Careers and Employability within SAAS to co-ordinate university-wide support Recruit 2 Careers Advisers to enable dedicated support to each faculty Establish an internal employment agency Unitemps which offers internal & external temp parttime jobs to DMU Offer annual DMU placement opportunities to across departments & professional services Achieve 130+ Frontrunners placements p.a., with a view to increasing to 400+ within 3 years Encourage & support work experience via volunteering & student representation roles with a view to developing formal accreditation of these activities Establish the Employability subcommittee of ULTC, to review and update activities & strategy as well as monitor DMU s performance Head of Careers and Employability to take responsibility for coordinating and delivering the University s Employability Strategy Faculties to periodically review their programmes to identify how they are addressing the University s Employability Strategy Identify the necessary actions and interventions to improve the outcomes and destinations for from ethnic minority backgrounds
3 By Summer DSU By Summer University Develop diagnostic skills audits for 1 st and 2 nd years to identify skills development and address gaps Embed summer boot camp programme into all degrees Embed job application skills within all degrees to include: writing applications, interview experience and psychometric tests Personal development & tutor support to promote the importance of cocurricular activities as part of personal marketing to employers Each faculty to produce action plans which addresses skills audits & current graduate employment statistics Develop a DMU award which accredits skills & work experience, & is recognised in the HEAR Service Level Agreements to be agreed between Student Services and Faculties programmes Final year careers support for graduatetrack applications within 6 months of graduating DARO & Faculties to involve recent DMU alumni in supporting careers development activities Review timetabling structure to embed work experience, study abroad or other co-curricular experiences within degrees Align PG curriculum with public/private-sector business needs Develop opportunities for PG research to develop independent research skills and experience of academic teaching Identify a set of KPIs which will monitor development & outcomes for DMU Develop an campaign to improve student, staff & stakeholder awareness of DMU s agenda Ensure all relevant Students Union development opportunities are recognised on the HEAR To consider DMU involvement in DSU end of year volunteer and Clubs and Societies celebration events Develop a campaign that highlights the leadership opportunities available within the Students Union Create a skills matrix of DSU opportunities (course reps, clubs, societies, volunteers, officers, student staff, media)
