1 Course Details Course Name Course Code Course Overview Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 This nationally recognised qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. This qualification, or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it, is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program. Suitable for Application & Pre-requisites Learning Outcomes The qualification is suitable for those who design and deliver training, and design and conduct assessments within the formal Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector in Australia, using nationally recognised Training Packages. In most cases, those undertaking the TAE40110 qualification will conduct training and assessment as a substantial proportion of their job role. Those whose job role encompasses only a limited amount of training and assessment may find that they do not require the entire qualification, but could benefit from completing one or more units. This course does not have a pre-requisite requirement. No qualifications or previous experience are necessary to participate in this program. However, students are expected to possess vocational competence in a specific industry / subject / technical area in which they wish to train and assess. Additionally, a relatively high level of reading and writing ability is required along with basic computer skills necessary for internet research and word processing. On successful completion of this training, the participant will be able to: Analyse nationally recognised Training Packages and units of competency Design and develop learning programs for nationally recognised units of competency Plan, prepare and deliver training sessions to individuals and groups Develop and implement work-based learning pathways Plan, organise and conduct assessments against nationally recognised units of competency, including development of assessment instruments. 2 Course Specific Requirements This course requires the participant to have a sound knowledge of the English language. LLN Requirements A reasonably high level of reading and writing ability is required to complete the qualification. Students will need to demonstrate the ability to: access, read and interpret Training Packages (via the internet) develop and document learning programs, assessment plans and assessment instruments (using a computer) present training to groups, and manage the learning process including asking and answering questions and providing feedback plan the timing of training sessions and deliver in accordance with their plan document and provide feedback to learners and assessment candidates prepare training and assessment records Course Delivery Students are also required to have computer skills for internet research and word processing. Further advice about the language, literacy, numeracy and technology skills needed to complete this qualification, and avenues for LLN support, can be obtained by contacting a Peel Safety Institute Training Advisor. The Peel Safety Institute provides access to a brief online test from Safe Work Australia to our clients for those who choose to undergo pre-course LLN testing. This test can be retrieved from Where LLN issues may impact progress, the client will be counselled on the minimum requirements to achieve competency. The trainer/assessor will advise the client of the appropriate course of action for remedial assistance. In cases where the language, literacy and/or numeracy issues are such that it impinges on the individual or the group s safety or the, the client will be required to undertake remedial development before continuing with the training or assessment. Duration 10 day inexperienced face to face course. This course is for students with no experience or little prior knowledge/skills in this area. Prior to attending the course you will be supplied with a pre-course learner workbook and you will be required to complete a pre course assessment. This is designed to reduce the time you will need to spend out of your working environment and in the class room. This also assists our Trainer/Assessor in ensuring you are attending the correct course, and checks your level of understanding. You will be required to attend 10 days classroom based training where you will complete your workbooks, in class assignments, homework, and you will be required to design and deliver presentations and assessments throughout the course. You will have 12 months from date of enrolment to complete the required out of class work. Pg 2
3 5 day experienced face to face course. This course is for students currently in a training role and/or who have an understanding of VET systems and processes. You will be supplied with a pre-course learner workbook and you will be required to complete a pre course assessment. This is designed to reduce the time you will need to spend out of your working environment and in the class room. This also assists our Trainer/Assessor in ensuring you are attending the correct course, and checks your level of understanding. You will be required to attend 5 days classroom based training where you will complete your workbooks, in class assignments, homework, and you will be required to design and deliver presentations and assessments throughout the course. There may be an option for a third party report to be completed by your employer if you are currently in a training role. Speak to your Trainer/Assessor about this prior to enrolling on the course. You will have 12 months from date of enrolment to complete the required out of class work. On line course. This course is designed for you to complete on line at your own pace, within 12 months from enrolment date. You will have and phone access to your Trainer/Assessor to assist you when required. Benefits include studying when and where it suits you, graduating with the same qualification as a face to face student. Due to the nature of the course, and having to demonstrate competency in delivering presentations and assessing students, you have the option of completing a third party report, or sending in videos of your presentations, or alternatively arranging a time to come in to The Peel Safety Institute and delivering your presentation face to face. The pre-course content is included in the online classes. With all of The Peel Safety Institute on line courses, steps are taken to authenticate your identity. To confirm this, our Trainer/Assessor will make contact with you during and/or after completion of the on line course to verify your competency by questioning you on the course content you have completed. Location Training is undertaken in our purpose built training facility located at 6 Husband Road Barragup WA Onsite training can also be conducted for group bookings within Western Australia. Please note that it is a requirement for onsite training that all equipment/materials as stated within the applicable training package be available for training and assessment purposes. Delivery Training delivery will focus on facilitation of adult learning by contextualizing learning programs to suite the individual learner needs, reasonable adjustment will be used to accommodate varying communication and learning styles and previous experience. 4 Alternative Learning Methods The preferred method of delivery of this course is intensive, classroom and practical based training. If required alternative methods of delivery are available for this course. Workplace (on the job) training for this course under the supervision and instruction of an accredited trainer is an alternative option that may be undertaken. Please note that under the definition of Supervision the meaning requires the Supervisor to be within sight of the trainee/worker at all times. Assessment is still required by a Peel Safety Institute Trainer/Assessor to ensure the participant meets the competency standards required for competency. RPL is the acknowledgement of a person's skills and knowledge acquired through previous training, work or life experience. Through an RPL assessment process, participants may gain partial or full completion of a qualification in place of attending formal training. Trainers and Assessors Assessment Trainers and assessors are qualified & experienced professionals with current industry knowledge and practical experience in a wide range of industry sectors. Your assessor holds the relevant certification for the training and assessing being conducted. The assessment process for this course comprises of the following types of assessment Students are required to complete a set of assessment tasks for each module they undertake. Satisfactory completion of all assessment tasks is required before a credential can be awarded. Examples of the evidence typically requested from students as part of their assessment tasks include: Answers to questions demonstrating students knowledge and application of the required knowledge Completion of case studies Direct observation of students delivering training and conducting simulated assessments Review of training and assessment documentation developed by students on-course and in the workplace Completion of workplace-based tasks / projects which require students to apply the relevant competencies to the workplace Third party observation of students delivering training and conducting assessments Pricing Structure Course price $ Inclusions All learning materials including a comprehensive learner guide, consumables. Amenities Students will be provided with morning tea for all courses delivered at The Peel Safety Institute. Those who complete one or more units of competency, but who are unable or not wishing to complete the entire qualification, will be issued with a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the unit(s) they successfully complete. The Unique Student Identifier (USI) must be supplied and verified prior to issuance. Your Statement of Attainment does not have an expiry date; however, training packages are subject to updates. Peel Safety will deliver the most current course code but does not hold any responsibility if the training package you have completed becomes superseded.
