10 10 What our people say Stephanie Brown, Operations Administrator Stephanie has worked for Guidance Marine for 11 months and joined the team through an apprenticeship scheme, she is now the full-time Operations Administrator. I was able to gain work experience in different areas of the business whilst Guidance supported me with my course and assignments. As part of the apprenticeship we are enrolled onto different courses to help develop the personal and technical skills which benefit us in the work environment. At the end of each course, we receive a certificate to show what we have accomplished and to keep for our portfolios. Guidance understand the value of apprenticeships and are keen to encourage all of their young employees to develop within the business. We are always on hand to ensure each apprentice gets the best support possible. Andy Knight, Engineer My journey with Guidance started at University of Oxford where I was reading Engineering and Computer Science. After graduating in 2007 I joined Guidance as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Apprentice working on a two year project with University of Oxford. The reason I chose to become an Engineer was that I relish a challenging problem to solve. At Guidance I have been given the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects which has allowed me to continually develop my skills and knowledge over the last 6½ years. I also love the fact that as an engineer at Guidance you don t just work on a tiny part of a large system. You get to work on all aspects of the system so you know that when it works it is because you and your team made it work!

11 There s always an interesting problem to solve and the environment is amazing to work in with all of the supportive staff there to keep me to my goals. During my employment with Guidance, I have been given the opportunity to gain an in-depth experience in IT. I have always been interested in technology and innovation which is what attracted me to the world of IT. At Guidance there are constantly developments and launches of new features which means you have the opportunity to work on something new and gain new skills. Baljit Makh, IT Support Technician Guidance constantly have a number of projects on the go, which keeps the role exciting and varied, which is one of the reasons I enjoy working here. Guidance help you grow within the company and encourage social events and activities outside of the office. I play in the Guidance football team and it is a great way to build rapport with colleagues in a different environment to the office. DID YOU KNOW...?
