2 Corporate citizenship is an ongoing journey for Accenture we are committed to making a sustainable, measurable difference to the world in which we work and live. In these pages, we highlight the impact we made in India in fiscal 2013 across each of the five pillars of our corporate citizenship strategy: Corporate Governance, Skills to Succeed, Environment, Our People and Supply Chain. Corporate Governance Forming the foundation of corporate citizenship Corporate Citizenship Fiscal 2013 Review We believe that strong corporate governance is critical to creating long-term value for our clients. We strive to ensure that every aspect of our business from financial practices to environmental stewardship meets the highest standards of ethics and integrity. Our core values Client Value Creation, One Global Network, Respect for the Individual, Best People, Integrity and Stewardship form the foundation of our Ethics & Compliance programs, and ensure that we meet the highest standards of accountability, independence and transparency. Corporate Citizenship Governance Accenture s corporate citizenship and environmental strategies are governed by a dedicated subcommittee of our Global Management Committee, our most-senior management group. This subcommittee meets thrice a year to consider policies, and guide the work of the Corporate Citizenship Council and the Environment Steering Group. The Corporate Citizenship Council is a group of managing directors from multiple disciplines and geographies who implement our policies and supporting programs to assess strategy, guide overall programming activity and approve major initiatives. The Environment Steering Group includes Accenture Leaders and determines our processes for providing guidance around carbon emissions disclosure

3 Skills to Succeed Equipping people with the skills to get a job or build a business Skills to Succeed Initiatives In India, our long-term relationships with leading nongovernmental organizations (NGO) have enabled us to deliver long-lasting change for people and communities. We work with a number of strategic partners that share our skill-building goals, including: Dr. Reddy s Foundation, Don Bosco Tech, QUEST Alliance, LabourNet, Aide et Action, The Mann Deshi Foundation, Anudip Foundation, Enable India, Self Employed Women s Association (SEWA) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). We also collaborate with the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC). We have identified five sectors that have the maximum potential for employment in India business process outsourcing, hospitality and facilities management, retail, construction, and microenterprise. Our Local Grant-giving Projects We are driving measurable impact through our long-term relationships with strategic partners by increasing marketplace competitiveness and economic resilience, building sustainable businesses and creating employment opportunities. We select our partners based on their shared vision for our Skills to Succeed program; their ability to fully leverage our services and resources; their footprint and outreach that enable our employees to engage and support them wherever they are; and their proven track record. The following examples illustrate the range of work Accenture in India is implementing through Skills to Succeed: Contributing to building skills for the business process outsourcing (BPO) and IT workforce Dr. Reddy s Foundation Contributing to training youth for India s hospitality industry Don Bosco Tech and ITC Welcom Group Accenture, Don Bosco and ITC Welcom Group of Hotels collaborate to train youth from disadvantaged backgrounds in hospitality and facilities management using state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and infrastructure. This tripartite collaboration provides students access to technical expertise, high-quality training curriculum, on-the-job training, certification and placement assistance. Contributing to building a competent retail workforce Aide et Action Through our Skills to Succeed initiatives, we provide young men and women from economically weak sections of society with training in the skills needed in these highdemand sectors. These initiatives help them become employable or set up their own businesses. Our target groups are the youth, women and persons with disabilities (PwDs). A majority of the trained youth are now employed in various organizations, including Accenture. In our collaboration with Dr. Reddy s Foundation, we train young people in a marketrelevant curriculum developed by Accenture subject matter experts (SME) for BPO and IT services skills. Our SMEs also conduct regular Train the Trainers sessions to ensure quality training, and we encourage our skilled volunteers to provide coaching and mentoring support to students consistently over the years. We collaborate with Aide et Action to develop and support market-relevant vocational training to help students secure jobs in the retail sector. Skills are a key driver of economic empowerment for individuals and communities alike. The need is greater than ever to have the right skills to build capabilities and confidence that will open doors to employment. At the same time, this societal need resonates with the way we manage our people training and developing them to achieve higher levels of performance. Skills to Succeed, our corporate citizenship initiative, aims to build skills that enable people around the world to participate in and contribute to the economy. In 2010, we set an overarching goal that by 2015, our Skills to Succeed initiatives would equip 250,000 people worldwide with the skills to get a job or build a business. By the end of fiscal 2012, we had exceeded that goal, having equipped 320,000 people with these skills. To increase our impact in the communities worldwide, in 2013 we announced a new goal to equip 500,000 people globally by We have also partnered with international nonprofits such as Leonard Cheshire Disability and Enable India to provide employment to PwDs, and we are helping Plan International train underprivileged youth in areas such as information technology (IT) and customer relations

4 Contributing to helping construction workers achieve better livelihoods LabourNet Accenture collaborates with LabourNet to train workers in 10 construction-related trades through multilingual videos developed by Accenture. Contributing to building the rural economy with microenterprise skills The Mann Deshi Foundation and The British Asian Trust: Business school for rural women Accenture collaborates with The Mann Deshi Market-aligned skills training for the local job market Anudip Foundation Accenture collaborates with Anudip Foundation in Kolkata to provide training to women and youth in market aligned skills training for the local job market. The initiative has been highly successful and has resulted in good placement and retention rates. Linking Environment and Skills to Succeed The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) Delivering BPO skills training to persons with disabilities Enable India and Dr. Reddy s Foundation We have special projects with En able India and Dr. Reddy s Foundation to deliver BPO skills training to persons with disabilities and the unemployed to improve their employment prospects in the BPO sector. Our Global Grant-giving Projects across India in retail skills and in the English language through a blended-learning curriculum. This advanced method of training leverages technology to equip trainees with employable skills. Leonard Cheshire Disability (Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka) We support Leonard Cheshire Disability in expanding its Access to Livelihoods program to several locations in South and East Asia. This program helps persons with disabilities gain access to meaningful employment through training, life skills and placement services. Thought Leadership Accenture India established itself as a thought leader in the skills-development space. In partnership with the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) the highest skills-development body in the country we jointly published an interim impact assessment study to share insights applicable to skills development initiatives at a national and regional level. Read about it at accenture.com/nsdcreport Foundation and The British Asian Trust to train and empower rural women in various livelihood skills to enable them to start their own business and become economically independent. This unique project reaches out to rural women in remote parts of Maharashtra. Our Skills to Succeed goal: By 2015, we will equip 500,000 people globally with skills to get a job or build a business. Accenture collaborates with TERI to install solar charging stations in Karnataka, and train women entrepreneurs to build capabilities to operate and manage the stations to bring improved lighting to hundreds of households. QUEST Alliance A new collaboration with QUEST Alliance was formed to train young people from 320, ,000 Plan International (India, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand) We help Plan International provide training to the urban female youth in growing economies. In fiscal 2012, we began implementing projects in Indonesia and Thailand. The youth are trained in high-demand sectors such as IT, customer relations, BPO and electronic equipment repair. 1. 5 Our People Coming together for the benefit of society We have set a high standard for what we expect of our people, and they raise the bar every day stretching to take on new professional roles, contributing to the community and growing with the company. Accenture employees regularly give back to the community, and we help them maximize the impact of their donations and provide channels to offer time, services or financial assistance. Volunteering Through our volunteering program, Accenture people spend thousands of hours of personal time with a range of nonprofits across India for various causes they believe in. The program provides community involvement through sustained interactions and skill-building opportunities. As a result, our nonprofit partners benefit from our peoples time and skills. We also encourage the formation of local community teams by our employees. The teams determine the causes to support from working solely on environmental issues to providing mentor support and life skills training to young people from low-income backgrounds. Pro bono Through our pro bono programs, we offer our business process outsourcing, technology and consulting skills to our Skills to Succeed strategic partners at no cost. These projects range from developing application software for student database management systems to creating business plans and strategies. Accenture Development Partnerships Accenture Development Partnerships represents another way in which our people give back to the community. This pioneering corporate social enterprise employs an innovative not-for-profit business model that makes our core skills and assets accessible to the international development sector to help strengthen organizations. Fund-raising Accenture encourages employees and provides them opportunities to raise funds for charity through events such as trekking, trailwalks, marathons and so on. We also raised funds for flood-hit Uttarakhand, where additionally, our people donated essential items such as clothing, cooking utensils, buckets, blankets, umbrellas and dry rations. Employee giving program This program is an example of how pledges (salary contributions) from our employees can make a huge difference to the lives of the less privileged. Through this program, we are supporting 24 nongovernmental organizations. Volunteering 9, of our people committed 36,000 hours of their personal time to 50+ non-governmental organizations Pro bono people engaged in 17 projects committing 28,000+ hours of their time Fund-raising 22 16,000 teams, including 2 women s teams, raised funds through Trailwalker, organized by Oxfam India; 3,000+ Accenture people contributed money toward Uttarakhand flood-relief efforts Employee giving programs of our people have positively impacted thousands of youth, women and children by collectively pledging from their salaries 8 90

6 Environmental Stewardship Striving for a sustainable eco-friendly growth Environmentally sustainable growth is central to all high-performance businesses. At Accenture, our efforts to ensure sustainable growth span our entire operations from how we run our business through the services we provide our clients to how we engage with our employees and suppliers. We run and grow our business on an environmentally sustainable basis, cultivating eco-efficient practices that include energy management and resource conservation. Our environmental footprint primarily consists of carbon emissions generated from business travel and office energy use. Running Efficient Operations Reducing Business Travel With increased use of Telepresence and virtual collaboration technologies, smart work and alternative travel arrangements, we have taken a significant step toward reducing carbon emissions related to business travel. Saving Power Building energy-efficient facilities have helped us achieve power savings through the use of low-energy light emitting diode (LED) lighting, energy-saver panels and energyefficient uninterruptible power supply. Our efforts are further enhanced through steps such as desktop power saving, cloud computing, monitor sleep mode, data center temperature reduction, server virtualization, Internet protocol telephony and thin-film transistor technology. Saving Paper We have configured our printers for dual-side PIN-based printing to ensure effective use of paper. Saving Water Though our operations are not water-intensive, we recognize the importance of using water sustainably through initiatives such as installing sensor water taps, bio taps as a substitute for water in urinals, and recycled water used from sewage treatment plants. We harvest rainwater and treat waste water onsite for reuse in gardens. In five facilities, we installed solar water heaters in place of geysers in gyms, cafeteria dish washing machines and the breakout pantry areas on all floors. Green Buildings Our Chennai facility runs on green power through wind energy, which has helped reduce our carbon dioxide emissions. We have green building certification facilities in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. We also added a fourth green room this year, built entirely from eco-friendly materials. It uses wind energy for lighting, recycled wornout rubber for floor tiles, paints made from natural ingredients and bin boxes made of 100 percent recycled paper. Carpooling To reduce our carbon footprint, we have launched a car pool website developed by our employee volunteers. Thousands of our people have registered and are actively using the website to travel collaboratively, thus reducing their carbon emissions and bonding with colleagues in the process. Working Sustainably Our people enthusiastically create and adopt practical ways to eco-smart work. We encourage our employees to adopt eco-friendly practices such as switching off lights when not in use at office or at home. Eco-watch Teams We set up the eco-watch teams with volunteers from across the business to implement eco-efficient office practices, ranging from spreading awareness on green procurement and switching off monitors when not in use to supporting local environment drives. Celebrating World Environment Day Every year, we celebrate World Environment Day (June 5) across locations in India. In fiscal 2013, the celebration continued over four weeks, providing our people the opportunity to participate in and contribute to an ecofriendly lifestyle. The activities ranged from tree plantation to collection of e-waste and sponsoring environmental workshops. Eco Challenge As part of the annual global Eco Challenge, we launched Accenture s environment game, Are you a Green Superhero? a fun way to build awareness and contribute to eco-friendly office practices. The game was made available on Facebook and mobile devices. Environmental Certifications Accenture has an Environmental Management System (EMS), which refers to the management of an organization s environmental programs in a comprehensive, systematic, planned and documented manner. In India, we have five facilities that are included in the ISO EMS certification scope

7 Supplier Diversity and Sustainability Environmentally sustainable growth is central to all high-performance businesses. Expanding relationships with diverse businesses We run and grow our business on an environmentally sustainable basis, cultivating eco-efficient practices that include energy management and resource conservation. Saving Power Low-energy light emitting diode (LED) lighting and energy-saver panels, building energy-efficient facilities and energyefficient uninterruptible power supply help Nurturing Supplier Sustainability At Accenture, we believe we have a responsibility to encourage sustainable business practices and inclusion and diversity among our thousands of suppliers across the world. Driven by our core values, we strive to ensure that the contractual agreements with our suppliers align with our Code of Business Ethics, which emphasizes critical areas particular to our organization and business model while highlighting aspects of conduct that are imperative for all employees. As we strive to improve the sustainability of our operations, we also seek to influence our suppliers business practices. Our goal is to use our knowledge, experience and technologies as examples for our entire supply chain, and to provide guidance and encouragement for supplier sustainability efforts. Supplier Standards of Conduct We expect our suppliers to comply with our Supplier Standards of Conduct, which supplements our Code of Business Ethics, the principles of our core values and the United Nations Global Compact Ten Principles. These standards are part of our sourcing and contracting process, and we have adapted them for supplier spend that is not managed by procurement, such as real estate vendors. Our intent is to do business with only those suppliers who agree to the standards or provide proof that they have an equivalent document. Advancing Supplier Diversity We believe we can make a powerful difference by creating marketplace opportunities for enterprises that have historically experienced barriers to participation. Through our Supplier Diversity Program, we demonstrate our commitment to unleashing entrepreneurial potential and promoting economic growth in the communities in which we do business. Our Supplier Diversity Program develops and expands relationships with minorityowned, women-owned, small and other diverse businesses. Accenture in India spearheaded the Skills to Succeed program for the Self Employed Women s Association (SEWA) an organization of poor, self-employed women workers in collaboration with WEConnect International, International Trade Center, The World Bank and La Pietra Coalition in 2011 to create green jobs and improve the livelihood prospects of women waste pickers. After the successful completion of phase 1 of the SEWA project, Accenture launched phase 2 in April 2013, focusing on product reengineering and market linkages. With collaborative support from the Accenture supply chain, SEWA could reengineer its product range and optimize costs. In line with global initiatives, we consciously encourage the inclusion of women s business enterprises (WBE) in our supply chain, and are committed to increase their share without compromising quality and cost. We increased the number of WBEs by 10 percent year-onyear in fiscal 2013, with the current diverse spend around 2.3 percent

Our commitment to providing an inclusive and open environment attracts, retains, develops and advances individuals with different needs and expectations, fueling a strong sense of belonging and pride in our company. In India, we specifically look at three segments of diversity gender; lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT); and persons with disabilities (PwDs). The India Inclusion & Diversity journey is almost a decade old. Our focus over the years has been to be the preferred employer of choice, to be known as a thought leader in the industry and to provide a safe, inclusive environment to employees.
