1 2014 The Port Authority of NY & NJ The Agency Quasi-governmental agency created in 1921 to oversee trade and transportation improvements in the bi-state port district.* Develops, builds, and manages some of the busiest and most important links in the New York/New Jersey region. *An approximate 25-mile radius extending from the Statue of Liberty Our Mission To identify and meet the critical transportation infrastructure needs of the bi-state region s businesses, residents, and visitors. To provide the highest quality, most efficient transportation and port commerce facilities and services that move people and goods within the region. To provide access to the rest of the nation and to the world, while strengthening the economic competitiveness of the New York/New Jersey metropolitan region. A self-supporting organization: Tax revenues are not received from any state or local jurisdiction. No power to tax. Revenues received from facility operations. Bonds backed by revenues generated from tolls, fares, fees, and rents. 1

Graduate and undergraduate students work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on assignments related to course of study.
