2 WORK DUTIES: TIME % DUTIES 40% Provide service or equipment as requested by the Lessee so that the needs of the interim events are met. Buildings are open and closed at proper times according to the Lessee s needs and any needed utilities are operating prior to each event. Trash is removed and liners replaced prior to and during an event as needed. Buildings are clean prior to each day s event. Show rings and seating areas are prepared and clean at the beginning of each day s events. Random inspections by supervisory staff will result in not more than two occurrences per event that require care i.e. pop spills not mopped up, trash containers that need emptied etc. Work closely with the promoter, interim events staff, and the general public to insure their needs are met and the rules of the Fairgrounds are observed. Check with promoter prior to and periodically during an event to make sure their requirements are met and the event is running smoothly. Deal with the public in a courteous manner in all situations. Monitor events closely to insure that the public and the promoter observe Fairgrounds policies and no damage to Fairgrounds property is done. 20% Perform building and grounds maintenance tasks such as trash removal, cleaning, set up of tables, chairs, and other equipment so that buildings and grounds are presentable and ready for each interim event. Buildings and grounds are clean according to the lessee s needs and a visual inspection by the supervisor will result in not more than one occurrence per week of having to redo the work. Care is exercised in handling Iowa State Fair equipment and no instances of damage because of abuse or negligence are reported. Instructions of lead person are followed and the buildings are set up according to lessee s specifications resulting in no instances of having to redo the work. 15% Maintain accurate records of time spent on job assignments, interim events rentals and critical event details. Time and costs codes for functions are entered daily for all employees on the crew so that costs of each job function can be monitored and easily accessed. Time cards are legible and can be processed by the timekeeper without extensive explanation. Accurate records of all rental equipment such as tables and chairs, used during each event are kept and turned into the supervisor. 2

3 Accurate records for machine time and electrical use for each event are kept and turned into the supervisor. Accurate stall counts are recorded for horse shows. General notes and photographs denoting special needs or requests are kept for future reference. 10% Operate equipment (front end loader, tractors, skid steers, and fork lifts) for use in facility preparation of interim events. Care is exercised in operating Iowa State Fair machinery and no instances of damage of abuse or negligence are reported. The show rings and exercise rings are properly prepared and a visual inspection by the lead person results in not more than one instance per month of having to redo the job. Care is exercised in loading and unloading equipment and there are no instances of damage to equipment or property resulting from negligence of carelessness. 5% Conduct routine inspections of facilities mechanical and life-safety systems. Maintains the building s mechanical and lighting systems to insure proper and efficient operation. Modify computer programming of lighting and equipment for building events to ensure proper performance in the occupied and unoccupied modes. Make recommendations for non-routine repairs to the supervisor. Keep current service records of building systems. (Fire Alarm, Fire Suppression, Gas Detection, Roof top Mechanical Equipment, Lighting Controls, Skylights.) 5% Maintain and service equipment so that a high degree of reliability and a maximum life span are maintained. Equipment will be cleaned, serviced and maintained according to established standards. Operator maintenance for vehicles and equipment, including greasing for heavy equipment, tractors and skid steers will be performed bi-weekly; this includes washing and cleaning cab areas. Mechanical and hand tools are used in a safe and proper manner with no instances of unsafe operations. Written reports for suspected equipment repairs are submitted to your supervisor. 5% Provide leadership and direction to full and part-time employees and insure that established policy and procedures are followed. Employees are aware of and practice Board, organization, and management policies. 3

4 Employees are advised of proper use of tools and equipment and there are no instances of damage or injury because of failure to do so. Employees are adequately trained in the performance of their job duties. Any instance of employee misconduct or rude behavior, as defined by the employee handbook, is reported to the supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job: A. Ability to read. B. Physically mobile enough to enter, exit and operate skid steer loaders, tractors, forklifts and dump trucks. E. Must have knowledge of hand and power tools and their uses. F. Must be able to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, and maneuver or feel objects, tools or controls. G. Must be able to reach with their hands and arms, climb and balance themselves; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. H. Must be able to communicate and hear well either naturally or with correction. I. Must be able to see well and have good peripheral vision, either naturally or with correction. J. Displays high standards of ethical conduct. Exhibits honesty and integrity and refrains from theft-related behavior. K. Works and communicates with internal and external clients and customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner. Committed to providing quality service. L. Displays a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing work on time. Works with minimal supervision. Demonstrates responsible behavior and attention to detail. M. Cooperates with supervisors and makes an effort to follow policy. N. Aligns behavior with the needs, priorities and goals of the organization. O. Ability to learn basic monitoring/maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life safety systems.
