We won t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. We provide advice and support to empower anybody experiencing a mental health problem and we campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. Mind employs over 300 staff and we have a small team of volunteers. Most staff are based in Stratford, London, there is an office in Cardiff and there are a number of dispersed staff working across England and Wales. The purpose of this job is to deliver Mind s strategic objectives and contribute to Mind s strategic development by overseeing Mind s Workplace Wellbeing funded programmes, ensuring that all programmes are meeting their objectives and delivered on time and on budget. This will include liaising with both external and internal senior stakeholders on progress, risks and issues and overall success and delivery of the programmes. In addition, the role will take a lead role in the development of funded programmes for Mind, identifying and exploiting opportunities and partnerships to further build this portfolio and delivery teams. Scope of the job You will contribute to Mind's vision of promoting and protecting good mental health for all by developing, implementing and overseeing strategies that enable Mind to deliver on its key Workplace Wellbeing funded programmes. You will have a portfolio of funded programmes which are likely to change over time but currently includes the Heads Together Workplace Wellbeing programme designed to benefit a broad range of Employers and their workforces (a legacy of the broader campaign led by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, uniting eight mental health charities including Mind, which encourages people to have important conversations about mental health; as well as delivery of the

2 recommendations from the Thriving at Work review, an independent review pf mental health and employers.. You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of these programmes of work to organisations, ensuring they meet their objectives and are delivered on time and on budget by overseeing the work of the delivery teams deployed to these programmes. Working alongside the other Head of Workplace Wellbeing Programmes and the Head of Workplace Wellbeing Services, you will also be responsible for identifying opportunities to grow Mind's Workplace Wellbeing funded programmes portfolio by developing and maximising relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partnerships. You will be responsible for the integration and legacy of these funded programmes, ensuring learnings are captured and improvements implemented within the Workplace Wellbeing hub. In addition, you will support the Head of Workplace Wellbeing in the strategic development of the Workplace Wellbeing team. You will report to the Head of Workplace Wellbeing and provide line management to 1 direct report and have overall responsibility for 5 staff within the Workplace Wellbeing funded programmes portfolio but this is likely to increase. You will work with staff across Mind and work closely with senior management and trustees. You will also work with other stakeholders and external contacts in delivering Mind s strategic objectives. Mind aims to ensure that the needs and interests of mental health service users, women, black and minority ethnic communities, disabled people, lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender and people of all ages are reflected in all its activities. You are expected to contribute to this aim. Key responsibilities Responsibility for strategic development of Funded Programmes within Workplace Wellbeing, including: Developing strategic plans across the entirety of funded programmes, and feeding into the broader strategy of the Workplace Wellbeing team. This includes setting the strategic direction for all Workplace Wellbeing funded programmes and overseeing the legacy of the current portfolio of funded programmes Working with colleagues in Business Development and Partnerships Fundraising teams to take a lead in developing partnerships with new and existing stakeholders to identify and establish additional funded programmes, and sources of funding to continue existing programmes if appropriate. Leading and/or contributing on special projects within the team, as directed by the Head of Workplace Wellbeing. This currently includes the implementation and operationalisation of the recommendations of the Thriving at Work review Overseeing programme related research to inform development of new programmes Developing and maintaining contacts with other organisations to negotiate and influence on complex and significant department and/or organisational issues across Workplace Wellbeing funded programmes Lead responsibility for delivering the Heads Together Funded Programme. Specifically: Operational oversight of the Heads Together Funded Programme, including: a. Development and set up of the Heads Together funded programme, working with and managing stakeholders to establish the programme b. Leading and developing the Heads Together funded programmes delivery team to meet agreed objectives and outcomes for the programme

Overseeing the formulation of team work, projects and plans, policies, procedures, objectives and outcomes and being accountable for regularly monitoring, reviewing, evaluating, developing and reporting on performance d. Overseeing programme development / activity implementation based on workplace wellbeing research e. Assessing and managing problems and risks on the Heads Together funded programme due to its high profile, proactively addressing issues with stakeholders to ensure the programme is successfully established f. Leading the programme delivery team, including line management to 1 direct report. This includes undertaking appraisals, supervisions and team meetings and in accordance with Mind s commitment to a mentally healthy workplace. g. Overseeing the development and management of budgets for Heads Together programme and being accountable for effective financial management. This will include overall responsibility for ensuring the programme is delivered within budget and forecasting, setting, monitoring, reviewing and reporting on budget are carried out to the highest standards. Developing strategic plans for the Heads Together funded programme, working with colleagues in Business Development and Partnerships Fundraising teams to develop partnerships with new and existing stakeholders to identify and establish additional funded programmes, and sources of funding to continue existing programmes if appropriate. To integrate the work of Heads Together funded programme into the Workplace Wellbeing team, and more broadly across Mind, and ensure that key programme learnings are captured and implemented, so that the legacy of funded programmes is embedded in the organisation. To develop and maintain contacts with other organisations and to negotiate and influence on complex and significant department and/or organisational issues relating to the Heads Together programme To undertake other duties within the Workplace Wellbeing team as appropriate: a) To work collaboratively with the other Heads in Workplace Wellbeing to optimise opportunities and impact for our beneficiaries, increase Mind s income and leverage combined strengths b) To work collaboratively with other staff, senior managers, trustees and other internal and external stakeholders and to lead by example and contribute to a culture of co-operation, flexibility and adaptability within the department and across Mind. c) To support the implementation of the Network Futures plan (our 5 year vision for a strong federation) by working collaboratively with the local Mind network, including identifying and exploiting opportunities for further partnership working d) To attend, chair and contribute to meetings, briefings, reviews, due diligence and auditing and compliance activities and to prepare and present papers to senior management, trustees, and other internal and external stakeholders as required. e) Ensure that the work of the funded programmes teams are appropriately informed by the views and experience of people with lived experience of mental health problems. f) Keep abreast of external trends and developments and changing circumstances and adapt accordingly the Workplace Wellbeing programmes within Mind. To identify and propose relevant development opportunities for Mind and to provide updates and reports to senior management as required. g) To be an ambassador, spokesperson and representative of Mind as required at events and in the media.

To travel to meetings in England and Wales, which may require the need to work unsociable hours e.g. attending evening or weekend meetings or for overnight stay. 5. 5 Person specification: Head of Workplace Wellbeing Programmes - Strategy and development focus Essential criteria 1. Significant experience of leading major programmes within the voluntary sector, and of programme and project management including planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on performance 2. Experience of successful business development, ideally gained from generating earned/commercial income across the voluntary sector 3. Proven ability to establish credibility with key senior stakeholders, excellent networking and influencing skills to build and maintain relationships, and work collaboratively and in partnership with individuals, groups and organisations both internally and externally 4. Significant experience of planning, developing, implementing, delivering, monitoring, evaluating and reviewing strategic and operational activities 5. Manager level experience of managing staff including undertaking supervisions and appraisals, engaging and developing staff 6. Experience of financial and budget management including planning, developing, forecasting, setting, monitoring, reviewing and reporting on budgets 7. Excellent self-management skills to work independently and as part of a team, using own initiative and being flexible and adaptable to deal with competing priorities 8. Excellent verbal communication skills to chair meetings, deliver presentations and work with internal and external staff and stakeholders at all levels 9. Excellent written communication skills to write senior and complex correspondence, reports, presentations, policies, procedures, processes and strategy papers 10. Good decision making skills and confident in making strategic and operational decisions 11. Excellent planning and organization skills to be able to plan and organize work at both a strategic and operational level for self and team, cross-organisation, and to deliver work to agreed timescales and standards 12.
