2 A little bit about us We are a world class leader in the international market for the design, manufacture, maintenance and supply of equipment and components for railway systems. Founded in 1917, CAF has enjoyed over a century of progress and success. We employ more than 8,000 people worldwide, and our Head Office is in Beasain, Northern Spain, which is also home of the main production plant. Along with the supply of trains, we also provide a more comprehensive coverage of maintenance and support services, with maintenance depots in Spain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, India, United States, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and New Zealand. We are the most complete manufacturer of rail vehicles in the UK market, and have been recognised for our hard work and professional service, having won the internationally acclaimed Manufacturer of the Year award at the prestigious Global Light Rail Awards in 2017 for projects we have been involved in within the UK and overseas. Three hundred jobs to be created at new train building factory in Newport. More than 100 locations in the UK were considered for the plant, with Newport chosen from a shortlist of four. The new assembly hub will have the floor area equivalent to 12 Olympic size swimming pools, or 2 Principality Stadium size football pitches. Its internal volume will be equivalent to filling the building with 1,500 double decker buses, and is being designed to build a range of different trains, including diesel multiple units (DMUs), electric multiple units (EMUs), trams and high speed trains. Located at the Celtic Business Park, next to the forthcoming Llanwern Train Station, and with other strong infra-structure links, makes it an easy commute from all directions.
