3 WORK READINESS SEMINAR OVERVIEW Life skills are skills that a person must possess in order to successfully live in today s world. This skills enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Practicing life skills lead to qualities such as self-esteem, sociability, tolerance, values, attitudes and skills with a particular emphasis on skills that are critical thinking, problem solving, self-management, interactive communication and interpersonal skills. WHY A WORK READINESS PROGRAMME? We came to a realization that Universities and colleges in Botswana produce graduates who are ill equipped for the job market. Graduates would come out of University with good theoretical knowledge but when it come to the job market, they are nowhere near ready. In addition, employers require individuals with a range of core work competencies such as team work, self-management and many others. Our aim is therefore to bridge the gap and help manage expectations from both sides, thus making the graduates more employable. SEMINAR DESCRIPTION This seminar target unemployed graduates and other youth in the economy who require assistance entering the workforce. The work readiness seminar encourages and support participants to increase their skills level in the following areas; personal life, management and employability skills. He has over 12 years of work experience and has held senior positions at the Administration of Justice, Central District Council, Botswana Power Corporation and Water Utilities Corporation. In 2015, he founded Progressive Institute which offers a wide range of courses in different areas. He also provides coaching and consultancy services to the private sector, public sector, NGO s and many other sectors of the economy. As a consultant, Mmoloki has worked with a number of teams in creating winning minds, cultivating leadership, creating high performance teams, entrepreneurship as well as public speaking. 5 CORLIA PETERS Ms. Peters is a seasoned HR Specialist and Consultant with over 20 years of experience having served in different countries across the globe setting up HR functions in organizations. Her career has also taken her to South Sudan where she focused on developing key competencies in individuals at South Sudan Beverages (SABMiller Africa) to help them deliver on their mandate. As a Consultant in one of Botswana oldest recruitment agency, Premiere, Ms. Corlia will take participants through several topics such as interview skills, Emotional Intelligence and others to help participants gain a better understanding of the interview process.
