1 Trainee Maintenance Technician The Trainee Maintenance Technician performs aircraft maintenance tasks under supervision, and in accordance with organisational procedures and safety precautions as specified. He/she assists the team leader to ensure all housekeeping tasks and requirements are maintained. The Trainee Maintenance Technician also attends classroom and practical lessons as required, and sits for the requisite qualifying knowledge and practical tests. 2 General Worker/Operator The General Worker/Operator performs housekeeping tasks to meet the organisational requirements on ensuring work space efficiency and effectiveness. He/she takes instructions from his section lead and performs all general duties as required. The General Worker/Operator also assists in moving aircraft components, equipment and materials from the store to the respective work areas. 3 Store Assistant The Store Assistant is responsible for updating stock levels in the inventory data system. He/she is aware of the importance of inventory control and maintains adequate stock levels to avoid overstocking and obsolescence/aged lots. He is conversant with the store layout, rotates stock in accordance with organisational guidelines to avoid wastage, and ensures handling and storage meet the required standards. The Store Assistant ensures all areas of the stores are clean and tidy at all times. 4 Technician (Component Repair and Overhaul - Mechanical) The Technician (Component Repair and Overhaul - Mechanical) performs maintenance, disassembles, inspects, repairs and overhauls, reassembles and tests aircraft systems and components, in accordance with relevant technical manuals and quality standards. He/she prepares system components in accordance with technical instructions and takes appropriate corrective actions to restore them to the required performance. The Component Repair and Overhaul Technician is also a technical resource person in the analysis of system failures when required. He keeps abreast of latest developments of related systems by updating himself through relevant manuals and other publications. He may also be authorised by the organisation to perform quality control and assist in Non-destructive Testing functions in accordance with organisational procedures. Control: He inspects parts received (from suppliers) for conformity to specifications as stated using CMM and/or manual gages required for accurate inspection checks and registers non-conformity as required. He monitors and ensures smooth flow of parts for inspection to avoid bottlenecks. He also maintains the organisation s technical library. He receives, inspects and documents incoming materials, spares and components, ensures specification conformity and proper storage in accordance to organisational requirements. He also performs despatch inspection, packs, prepares shipping documents and arranges delivery with transport companies to send the serviced items to their respective owners. Non-destructive Testing (Level 1): He maintains all non-destructive test equipment at their required functionality to perform the tests specified in the works instructions. He prepares and determines the acceptance of surface condition of parts and components prior to conducting the appropriate tests. He also liaises with engineering, inspection and other personnel as required to assist in researching and solving Non-destructive Testing process problems. 8 Technician (Component Repair and Overhaul - Avionics) The Technician (Component Repair and Overhaul - Avionics) performs maintenance, repair, modification and troubleshooting of aircraft electrical/electronic systems and components, in accordance with relevant technical manuals and quality standards. He/she takes appropriate corrective actions to restore the aircraft electrical/electronic systems and components to the required performance. The Avionics Technician is a technical resource person in the analysis of failures when required. He keeps abreast of latest developments of avionic systems by updating himself through relevant manuals and other publications. He may also be authorised by the organisation to perform quality control in accordance with organisational procedures. Control: He inspects parts received (from suppliers) for conformance to specifications and registers non-conformity as required. 10 Planning Assistant The Planning Assistant prepares purchase orders for outsourced repair works and procurement, and checks the accuracy of invoices received in consultation with the purchasing departments. He/she submits warranty claims to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs) and resolves disputes in consultation with various departments as required. The Planning Assistant also engages in continuous process improvement and participates in problem-solving teams with internal departments in the organisation. 11 Senior Technician (Component Repair and Overhaul - Mechanical) The Senior Technician (Component Repair and Overhaul - Mechanical) supervises a team of technicians to investigate faults and failures of related systems, and proposes appropriate remedial actions to restore them to required working order. He mentors and conducts training for trainee technicians of the same trades and also engages in continuous process improvement initiatives. He/she may also be authorised by the organisation to perform quality control/assurance and Non-destructive Testing functions in accordance with organisational procedures. (Fulfil Part SAR and AC 145-2(3) requirement) Control/Assurance: He supervises the visual inspection of all deliveries in accordance with stipulated inspection procedures to ensure compliance with the purchase and repair requirements, and ensures that non-conformance reports are filed when required. He conducts audits to ensure that all repair work done on systems and components is in accordance with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and organisation s prescribed procedures and standards, and ensures that nonconformances are tracked and actions are taken to rectify them. He also assists in tool and equipment calibration, process reviews and supports continuous improvement process and initiatives. Non-destructive Testing (Level 2): He performs visual inspection and non-destructive testing of welds, forgings, casting and machined parts in accordance with organisational procedures, customers requirements and other contractual documents, and maintains accurate records of all inspection activities. He ensures that all Non-destructive Testing is carried out in accordance with quality standards as stated in respective manuals and also ensures compliance with the environmental and health safety standards. 17 Planning Supervisor The Planning Supervisor prepares sub-contract requisitions for outsourced repair works, processes and monitors repairs and warranties and generates bill of materials. He/she plans maintenance works, releases and updates maintenance orders. He also schedules and conducts regular reviews with key vendors/sub-contractors. The Planning Supervisor also performs continuous process improvement and participates in problem-solving with other departments within the organisation. 18 Engineering Service Engineer/ Technical Service Engineer The Engineering Service Engineer/Technical Service Engineer supports operations by ensuring all engineering solutions are on schedule. He/she verifies the technical reports prepared by the various sections in the organisation and takes appropriate actions to resolve problems arising in consultation with respective Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs)/customers. He also provides direct and timely feedback to customers on troubleshooting procedures and maintenance recommendations. The Engineering Service Engineer/Technical Service Engineer manages maintenance support requests, participates in maintenance planning discussions to support the maintenance requirements and the resolution of operational problems. He gathers in-service work progress data, customer requirements and feedback to identify marketing opportunities for the organisation. He also conducts cost reduction efforts and participates in quality improvement activities. 20 Repair Engineer/Process Engineer The Repair Engineer/Process Engineer coordinates with engineering and other divisions to establish the materials, processes and specifications for use with fabrication, rework and repairs. He/she ensures that all repair tasks are performed in compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs) repair manuals, approved maintenance specifications and documented in accordance with organisational and regulatory requirements. He embraces a continuous improvement culture through conducting cost reduction and process improvement projects. He provides engineering support and also develops appropriate instructional materials to elevate the skill of existing technicians, and train new hires. 23 Engineer The Engineer implements the organisation s Management System and Safety Management System to ensure compliance with regulatory and customers requirements. He/she conducts internal/external quality and EHS audits, and investigates work-induced defects. He ensures all repair work done on systems and components are in accordance with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), organisation s prescribed procedures and standards, and ensures that non-conformances are tracked and actions are taken to rectify them. He oversees the visual inspection of all deliveries in accordance with stipulated inspection procedures to ensure compliance with the purchase and repair requirements, and he ensures follow-up on non-conformities. He performs root cause analysis and corrective action, and ensures that preventive actions are implemented. The Engineer manages the organisation s technical publications, and documentation control, and ensures updates to Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins are distributed to workshops/work centres as appropriate. The Engineer reviews and approves work instructions and standard operating procedures, provides guidance, training and coaching to Inspectors, and conducts airworthiness related training when required. He may also be authorised by the organisation in accordance with procedures acceptable by the Authority to certify aircraft components for release to service.
