1 Position Reports to Senior Communications Advisor Marketing and Communications Manager Company Synlait Milk Ltd Date: January 2014 Location 1028 Heslerton Road, Dunsandel, Canterbury Purpose To be our communications champion and provide leadership and operational support in relation to Synlait s communications functions. This will be achieved by maximising brand awareness and protecting the reputation of Synlait through the development and management of both external and internal communications as well as sponsorship. Key Performance Areas Leadership Provide operational support and leadership to the Marketing and Communications Manager in relation to the development and execution of Synlait s communication functions. Responsibility is taken for supporting the development and management of the brand strategy. Internal Communications Develop and manage our internal communications programme to maximise staff engagement, awareness and support for Synlait s cultural development. External Communications Develop and maintain our external communications programme to maximise brand awareness and the promotion of Synlait while protecting our reputation at all times. This will include the management of our: Media and public relations activities. Supplier communications. Investor relations communication programme. Continuous disclosure communication requirements with investors and NZX. Communication activities in key markets. Digital communications including websites and social media. Media training programme. 2 Key Performance Areas Sponsorship Management Manage Synlait s sponsorship and community engagement programme to ensure maximum return on investment and that our strategic goals are achieved. Relationship Management Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with members of the Marketing and Communications team. Develop and maintain effective relationships across the business, including the senior management team. Build and maintain a strong relationship with NZX. Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders. Develop and maintain relationships with key industry contacts and media. Compliance / Risk Management Comply with all relevant company policies and delegations Comply with all Quality Assurance / ISO systems Identify and remedy any health and safety hazards and report any incidents Projects Undertake specific analysis and investigations / projects as directed and in an accurate and timely manner. Professional & Personal Development Undertake identified personal training / development with the prior approval of the Marketing and Communications Manager. Remain abreast of current industry related trends, practices and disciplines and undertake regular updates in either competency training or changes in law as required. Keep up-to-date and demonstrate awareness of relevant legislation and best practice. Build networks with relevant organisations, professionals and associations. 4 Qualifications, Skills and Experience Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualification required Experience: 5 years plus of communications experience preferably in a similar role. Corporate communications and public relations experience essential with investor relations and community engagement experience considered favourably. Experience in B2B and CRM is needed with experience in B2C being highly regarded Experience in working at both a strategic and tactical level Experience in the development of effective communications strategies with measurable outcomes International market experience preferred but not essential Experience in strategic planning and project management Experience in dairy, primary or agri sectors preferred but not essential Skills: Superior written and verbal skills, creative flair and eye for detail High intelligence and intuitiveness to be able to quickly assess situations and decisively and effectively act Superior professionalism and judgement Resilient, driven, focused and a quick learner Confident presenter with exceptional communication and negotiation skills Willingness to make tough calls when necessary Proven relationship building skills Strong capability in problem solving and decision making Well developed interpersonal skills, coaching and mentoring skills Proven ability to work under pressure and regularly meets deadlines in a multi-tasking environment Competencies Relating and Networking Writing and Reporting Persuading and Influencing Establishes good relationships with customers and staff, builds wide and effective networks of contacts inside and outside the organisation, relates well to people at all levels, manages conflict, uses humour appropriately to enhance relationships with others.
