Purpose To implement rehabilitation /vocational assessments and interventions within therapeutically-designed vocational work sites in order to facilitate the development of a client s rehabilitation readiness within the vocational or educational environments, thereby leading to the development of a rehabilitation goal that will establish their career, work or educational pathway. 2 Key Tasks 1 Provides occupational therapy input to RWR service delivery to ensure the provision of efficient, effective and high uality services to clients, with particular focus on the: Affirmative Businesses: Wrap n Pak & vocational assessment and work hardening service 2 Provide input to the overall, ongoing management of Wrap n Pak, Zoo Doo or Woodford Gardens: Contracts Production Euipment Markets Budgets Workplace environment Consumer participation. Administration Expected Outcomes Rehabilitation interventions are developed and adapted to meet client needs and identified client readiness and rehabilitation goals. Identified client rehabilitation goals are developed through individual or group interventions. Actively participates in regular RWR meeting forums including monthly inservice sessions. Contributes to development of the RWR Business Plan, actively participating in planning forums and working parties to identify and operationalise service directions. Instructs staff and clients in correct work methods Ensures client work stations and work sites adhere to health and safety reuirements and are ergonomically appropriate. Ensures costs and expenditure are controlled within budgets and allocated resources, in consultation with the contact/ horticultural supervisors responsible for the work project Participates in work activities with team members to ensure the annual business income targets are achieved by developing entrepreneurial income generating projects. Assists in assessing the profitability, risk factors and therapeutic benefits of income generating projects following established RWR business plan format. Participates in activities that ensure an appropriate economic balance is maintained between RWR generated income, work-related expenses and client pays. Ensures that the business/ project operates under the principles of a consumer-driven enterprise by promoting consumer ownership within regular consumer/ staff business and decision- making meetings. 3 Liaises with the client s key worker/ case manager to effectively manage presenting clinical, social and treatment issues that are affecting the worker s workplace performance. Ensures collaborative client/ practitioner work performance summaries are regularly completed, adhering to the freuency prescribed by the care team in liaison with the specific RWR work project 3 Provision of mental health services to clients 4 Liaison occurs within the vocational and Client assessments are completed as indicated, according to individual client need and their established vocational/ educational goals. Ensures rehabilitation interventions are planned and implemented in partnership with the client, and with consultation with primary care teams, keyworkers, identified significant others and other relevant RWR team members. Ensures screening criteria, client assessments, career development tools and vocational rehabilitation interventions are subject to ongoing evaluation and regular updating. Communicates in a timely fashion to the relevant key worker, mental health team, forensic team, relevant observations regarding client s work performance, appearance, behaviour, mental state and personal problems. Presents client s progress, goals and rehab plans at regular RWR client review meetings and, when indicated, at other clinical team reviews. Obtains appropriate information to ensure an adeuate understanding of necessary precautions, hazards and alerts. Ensures that updated information regarding client needs is received and incorporated into interventions. Ensures client confidentiality while job seeking etc., by exploring sensitive issues, with the view of gaining prior- approval on which information will be discussed in interview situations with employers and other vocation/ education providers. Complete client collaborative notes in a timely and regular fashion as specified within the RWR local policy manual. Ensures corrective measures occur in response to audit feedback and RWR Quality Group feedback. Assumes responsibility to identify and participate in continuous uality improvement initiatives. 9 Person Specification Minimum Preferred Qualifications Occupational therapy diploma/ degree. Experience Interest and professional commitment to the area of mental health rehabilitation Knowledge of the principles of health consumerism and client advocacy. Knowledge of current mental health rehabilitation theories and principles. Knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and how this influences mental health service delivery. Post graduate training in mental health specific interventions 1 year in the mental health sector Experience of developing services in tandem with mental health consumer groups.
