(JFS) is seeking a highly qualified Executive Director. JFS is dedicated to empowering individuals and families through professional counseling, programs and services inspired by Jewish values. We offer four core social service lines: senior outreach, counseling/therapy, case management and community programming. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall successful leadership and management of the agency.. 2 JOB TITLE: Executive Director PROGRAMS: All Jewish Family Services (JFS) Programs POPULATION SERVED: Children, Adolescents, and Senior Adults FSLA STATUS: Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall successful leadership and management of the agency and the implementation of the JFS strategic plans, program development, fiscal management, staff management and development, fundraising and board and community partnerships. EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION: The Executive Director is an employee classification of full-time exempt status. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic and Board: In conjunction with Board and the Management Team, develop organizational goals and objectives consistent with the mission and vision of the agency. Be directly responsible for innovative planning, program development, monitoring and evaluation and supervising the proper implementation of the agency s Mission Statement, subject to the direction of, and in collaboration with, the Board. Develop and facilitate an active planning process, including long-range strategic planning, that ensures these objectives are met. Facilitate the accomplishment of goals, objectives, and strategic plans established in cooperation with the Board of Directors. Identify changes in community and client needs and assist the Board in developing and implementing the agency s annual and long-range objectives. Participate in assigned Board of Director committees as assigned by the Board President. Attend Board Meetings (as an ex-officio member) and prepare or ensure preparation of relevant reports, documents, and data. Align programs and services with the agency strategic plan and agency mission. Recommend program and policy to the Board of Directors and provide information regarding community service needs. Participate in the recruitment, orientation and other involvement of lay leadership and volunteers so they serve in meaningful capacities in the agency. Provide for the availability, professionalism, efficiency and proper quantity of the services rendered by the staff of the agency, assuring a high quality of service and continuity of care to the clients the agency serves.

3 Administrative; Personnel Management Hire, supervise (directly or through subordinates), direct, evaluate and facilitate the dismissal of employees (when necessary). Seek professional development opportunities for self and encourage professional development for staff. Consult with the Personnel Committee of the Board and work collaboratively with professional and management staff. Coordinate delivery of all programming to align different disciplines, minimize duplication of effort and facilitate better delivery of care and other services. Develop and maintain high standards of ethics and professional practices in the agency. Utilize to the fullest extent possible the expertise and experience of the clinical and nonclinical staff in administrative matters. Provide an appropriate setting for creative and satisfying work by agency personnel. Provide for appropriate allocation and delegation of responsibilities and authority among staff and a clear chart of organization of personnel. Develop and administer sound personnel practices, job classification plan and salary ranges, all with Board involvement and approval. Maintain the agency s fiscal integrity through budget preparation, monitoring budgeted expenditures and maintaining proper accounting systems and financial reporting. Responsible for the development (with the Finance Manager, the Finance Committee and the Board) of an annual budget and narrative report (including the different budget formats submitted to the agency s multiple funding sources). Provide leadership in developing, securing and maintaining funding, purchase of service contracts and grants in areas in which the agency has competence to deliver services which are in the best interests of the agency and its clients. Provide for appropriate and modern record keeping and statistical data for billing and professional purposes and for evaluating and planning agency operations. Manage and maintain the agency s physical properties including planning for such relocation of agency facilities as is appropriate Ensures compliance with Equal Employment Opportunities and HIPAA and all other statutory and regulations requirements. Supervisory Lead the agency management team and provide strong, creative, energetic leadership to the agency staff and volunteers. Hire, train, and supervise an effective management team with provision for succession. Responsible for annual performance evaluation of the management team. Provide oversight to the Management Team and their respective responsibilities for program development and evaluation, fundraising, finance, business operations and human resources, marketing and public relations.

4 Marketing and Development Cultivate donors and funds (personal contact) as advised by relevant board committees and staff. Oversee and assists Development staff and committees with grants, donor cultivation, fundraising events and marketing. Collaborate with the Board of directors and development staff on funding strategies. Develop and maintain close relationships with referral sources Develop new funding sources through grant writing, program development, promotions or otherwise. Act as effective liaison with other agencies serving the community. Develop, improve and maintain the agency s visibility, acceptance and public image. Serve as the agency s community public relations spokesperson. Represent the agency at appropriate professional and community conferences and meetings. Assist relevant board committees and staff with fund-raising events. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Jewish culture and values. Community resources. Strong contacts and positive relationships within the Charlotte Jewish community. Strategic Leadership. Organizational Systems. Program Development and Implementation. Fiscal Management. Management, leadership, and supervisory skills. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and direct programs and services. Develop, implement, and evaluate program and client goals and objective. Conduct individual, family and community needs assessment; develop, implement, and evaluate related services. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated ability and experience in public speaking. Exceptional computer skills, including strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and database management. Ability to positively interact with all levels of management, community leaders, staff, clients, and donors. Excellent customer service skills. Must be organized, efficient, capable of multi-tasking, detail-oriented and selfmotivated.

5 QUALIFICATIONS: Non-profit work experience of sufficient length, breadth and relevance as to demonstrate the potential and or ability to fulfill the requirements of this management position. Jewish Communal knowledge. Relevant master s degree from an accredited institution an asset, but not required.
