Complete the questions by typing in, selecting or clicking the appropriate check box. 4. If you are unable to complete the whole pack in one go, save it to your computer and finish it later. 5. Once completed, save the document and or print, and hand it to your Vocational Learning Advisor. What happens next? Your Vocational Learning Advisor will mark your work, give you feedback and on satisfactory completion will issue you with a certificate of recognition.

You will need to know about your own contract of employment and written terms and conditions statement, the system of payments used and the related documentation. 1. What period of notice should you give if you wish to leave your job? 5. What benefits/conditions would you receive as a part time worker compared to a full time worker? 6. Describe how your organisation expect you to behave at work, including how to handle difficult situations. 1
3 1.1 Contracts of Employment - How it affects you Describe the standards of personal presentation (hair, cleanliness, etc.), punctuality and behaviour your organisation expect you to meet. You will also need to know what you should do if you have a grievance about the terms and conditions of your employment. 8. What should your organisation s written grievance procedure include? 9. What are the different types of discrimination? 2. Give three examples of aspects that are covered by sex discrimination law. 3. Give three examples when sex discrimination does not apply. 4. Name five aspects of employment relating to age that fall under the protection of the Equality Act Name three examples of age discrimination during the recruitment process. 3

You will need to know about the sick pay arrangements in your organisation, including how and when you must notify your employer if you are unable to go to work because of ill-health, and the implications of not following the procedures. 1. Where would you get a self certification form from and how many days sickness are you allowed to self certificate before you have to get a certificate from your doctor? 2. What are the arrangements for notification of sickness in your organisation? 3. After how many days sickness can your employer claim statutory sick pay? 4. What is the statutory level of sick pay? 5. You will need to know about the measures put in place by your employer to provide protection for you and others, the name of the person for health and safety in your workplace and your personal responsibilities. 3. 16 Target 3 - Your Employing Organisation The Structure of your Employing Organisation and of the Sector How it affects you... You will need to know how your organisation is structured, where your occupational role fits in, what your responsibilities are and how typical the structure of your organisation is in the industry. 1. List the main tasks within your job role. 2. Explain the structure of your organisation, workplace or department and who each of the roles are reportable to and ensure you include yourself. For example, Manager, Floor Supervisor, Sales Desk Assistant. You will also need to know what steps you should take to try to ensure you communicate effectively with colleagues and contacts in the workplace and why this is important to the organisation. 3.
