Grange was judged as good by Ofsted in We are seeking an inspirational Family Support Worker who is very passionate about supporting the community to develop and inspiring pupils to reach their full potential. The ability to support a diverse community is essential along with the relevant qualifications. We are very committed to offering our students a range of extracurricular activities and as such the successful candidate will be expected to lead a number of these activities and contribute to the continuing development of extracurricular provision throughout the school. 2 Job Description: Family Support Worker Job Title: Family Support Worker Grade: Scale 4 Responsible to: Assistant Headteacher Work Location: Grange Primary School Grange Primary expects all its employees to have a full commitment to its Equal Opportunities Policy and acceptance of personal responsibility for its practical application. All activities will be undertaken in the context of the following general aims: (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) (v) (vi) (vii) (viii) The improvement of the quality of services to the public Work closely with parents to improve pupil s attendance and punctuality Organise workshops for the school community Promote diversity and inclusion Ensure the school s provision is based on equity and equality Adherence to the Council s Best Value Objectives including performance pledges and other performance targets Extending the section s enabling role in the development and provision of services to stakeholders Developing the early help provision in the school JOB PURPOSE To support the parents of children in the school. To manage the school attendance and admissions process working closely with the LA admissions team To make contact with families and communities in the local area To support children s learning and development, working in partnership with other professionals and members of local voluntary and community groups. To promote the ethos of the school 2

3 JOB ACTIVITIES 1. To work as part of Grange providing quality experiences for children and their families. To facilitate group and drop in sessions. 2. To contact and visit families in the local area to provide information about Grange Primary School and community facilities to support families in developing pupils learning 3. To work closely and be the named contact for health workers other professionals and local community groups. 4. To support families in developing partnerships with professionals which promote children s learning and development. 5. To engage hard-to-reach families and support them in accessing services. 6. To be efficient in organising own work agenda, time management and administration. 8. To regularly consult with the community with regard to local needs of services. 9. To maintain a high degree of confidentiality in accordance with the school policy. 10. To keep clear records of activities with families and any ensuing action. 11. To show respect and sensitivity for the cultural and religious beliefs of families attending or using the school services. 12. To contribute to the evaluation of the effectiveness of the services and activities provided 13. To undertake training 14. To implement and follow clear health and safety procedures with regard to working off site. 15. To develop, document and evaluate the early help provision available for pupils and families. 16. Other duties as appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES Good written and spoken English, numerate, ICT Literate with an additional language preferable.
