For example, I have worked on a range of projects which include a new airport hangar, hospital refurbishment and new residential properties. Quantity Surveyors manage the costs of building projects from start to finish, looking for the best value for money and making sure the project meets legal and quality standards. 12 RLB SERVICES What is Building Surveying and Health & Safety? Those working in Building Surveying and Health & Safety offer advice on many aspects of property, design and construction, including the maintenance, repair, refurbishment and restoration of proposed and existing buildings and advice on legal and regulatory issues. This role also shares similarities in terms of skills and knowledge with Project Managers, who oversee the whole project, making sure it is completed on time and on budget. Project Management is the management of people, time and costs by an individual or a team to ensure the efficient commencement, progress and conclusion of a project. All these elements apply to construction projects. Project Managers at RLB are responsible for planning and managing building projects, such as refurbishing a house or building a skyscraper. Project Management in the construction industry also has to comply with sustainability, insurance, health and safety, and the legal requirements of the country in which the project is based.

20 GRADUATE PROGRAMME Graduate Programme is RLB s graduate recruitment and training programme and forms an integral part of RLB s Future Professionals Programme.
